So everyones a lawyer to-day !
Lets talk football.
Yeah Hughton seems to have found belief in himself and grown into the job.
Look the difference between the PL and the fizzy is enormous, we should along with Boro. and W/ Brom , be skating it and will be surprised if all three are not promoted.
One thing bothers me however, actually quite a few.
What happens when the present loan period ends ?
Does Ashley intend to rebuild, during the two windows available ?
Not counting loanees, we are painfully short of players, filling in the spots with kids, who have proven to be unready, even in the fizzy .
At present everything looks rosey, but there are serious questions to answer come xmas.
Is MA going to wing it, operating on a minimum budget or will there be an attempt to rebuild ?
Seems like a wasted opportunity if there are not some serious trades (some in -some out)
that could result in an improved side.
The PL is an unforgiving league as many newly promoted clubs have found out, to go in unprepared is fatal.
Think about it the present offers a great opportunity, dont throw it away.

"Not good use of the club’s money we would suggest, and remember Kevin’s action is against Newcastle United and not Mike Ashley. The club will have to pay whatever amount is awarded to Kevin by the tribunal – and not Ashley."

Ed, I can't believe someone at the top of his tree in business would take such a naive attitude to an unfair/constructive dismissal claim. All's fair in love and war. Perhaps Ashley should sue his own lawyers who let him sign KK on a 3 year contract at 3 million a year but its too late now. I can think of a better use of my money than to pay a parking fine, but if I get one, I still have to fork out.
Remember Ashley had several crucial days to conciliate and smooth this all over, he set up a plainly sub-standard and unpopular recruitment team and installed them above Keegan, Mort and Wise both said KK had a final say-so when clearly he didn't, they released that 'its a fact' statement which antagonised the situation, he made a counter-suit for 2 million which probably did the same thing and finally there's the smear campaign of 25 million claims and administration which you repeated on this blog.

All I can say is that I'm surprised you are surprised.

Sorry to hear about hate mail, Ed. There's no need for that and I hope you won't take any notice of it.
However, you did take a personal stance over KK's claim and have to expect fans will take exception if they disagree with you. But it should all be in good spirit.

But today you are claiming (again) that KK's claim will not harm Ashley but will hurt the club. I have read others here with whom I agree who have suggested that while the official party in KK's suit is necessarily his employer NUFC Ltd., any extra fine or burden on the club's finances will surely have to be reflected in a new (reduced) price to be paid by Moat or whoever buys the club. ie. if the club is worth 9 million less today than yesterday, the price will have to be reduced.

Do you know something different?

If so please explain it here. You have lately quoted the infamous 'club insider', so perhaps you do. Please spill the beans.
If, on the other hand, the club insider is none other than Llambias' mouthpiece and recent newspaper 'revelations' about a £25 million claim and the club on the brink of administration would indicate that he is, you should say so. To be honest, most fans I speak to were and are disgusted about a such a blatant anti-Keegan smear campaign and its corollary, that Newcastle fans are complete mugs to be spoon-fed any sort of arrant, unsubstantiated nonsense. It is in this context that I think you may also have got some people's backs up.

So if you know for certain that KK's claim will not hurt Ashley's pocket, please explain it. And if you don't but have only an opinion like the rest of us, you should make that clear as well.

PS. Its worth noting that the one smear tactic they have eschewed this time is to say the KK compo will directly target Mike's Toon transfer kitty - always a popular ruse but impossible even for our two-faced ignorant owner and Co. to maintain with a straight face.

Chris Hughton is a Professional. He gets on with his job despite knowing he has had no money to make transfers, and has lost all his best players in the transfer window (Oba, Beye, Bassong, Duff etc..) yet he keeps his nose out of the political affairs and is doing a great job in the process. Can Keegan or Shearer do this? Or will they put their hands into the political affairs of the club provoking themselves into a walkout and constructive dismissal claim?

Graeme-Totally agree mate..I mentioned earlier that the gulf in quality between prem and fizzy is massive....and I think if we do get promoted then we will need major 1st team investment otherwise we would be down again no questions asked.

Great to have the winning feeling though...the last few years in the premiership where painful.

Stuart & Graeme,

I've been saying the same. Yes I think if we can keep clear of injuries and bookings, we will walk the league, but lets face it, no chance. Injuries happen, part of the game and our squad just isn't big enough. Bookings could and should be avoided, but with players like Smith (changed my view as he has done well this season) & Barton, we will get bookings most games.

Saturday is a prime example though, yes we won well, maybe some of that down to them being poor, but we have also picked up injuries to key players. We have a game on Wednesday, and i can't see it being too easy really. We need to get bodies into our squad at least until December. Maybe they won't be the best players in the World, but we need players who can cope in the league and slot in when needed. I'm all for giving the kids a chance, but we don't want to wreck the careers early on if ther are not ready, have a shocker then a bad reaction from the crowd.

Lets all get behind the lads who take the field, hope for the best and hopefully the off teh field problems will sort themselves soon.

Great to hear the fans hammer Ashley at the game, nowt like a good face to face to get the message over and Graeme and Stuart, most fans know that and thats why they wont rest until they are rewarded for their loyalty with a squad they deserve.
If the fans put their hard earned into the club why cant the owner?
Back to the thread, Ashley going would put a smile so big on my face it would take an operation to remove it.

Im curious. Do other teams not get injuries then? Or is it just reserved for us. Yes we have a small squad, but go down the championship and you will find its much the same for everyone. There aren't many teams that have 22 players fighting for the first team thats for sure.

To be honest if we get in another winger and cover at left back I'll be fairly happy with the squad we have. The players we have brought in have all been decent so far and 2 more quality additions will do nicely. Considering we have had no money to spend Hughton has done a good job at bringing in the right kind of players that we needed.

SJT - a lot of what happened on Saturday night is down to how bad Ipswich were, rather than how good we were.

That we won comfortably in the end cannot be allowed to detract from the fragile position we are in as far as having a strong squad goes. We urgently need reinforcements to keep us going through to the January window.

Hopefully, by that time, the takeover fiasco will have been concluded and some badly needed investment in the squad can be achieved.

We can but hope!!!
