Coloccini Misses QPR Game But Gutierrez Back

Well it’s official and Fabricio Coloccini has lost his fitness battle for tomorrow night’s game with Queens Park Rangers.

jonas-gutierrez-1222

Jonas Gutierrez – fit for tomorrow night

The Argentine international injured his groin at Ipswich on Saturday night and caretaker boss Chris Hughton says he will take no risks with Fabricio, so he will not play tomorrow night.

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle this morning:

“Colo is out of the game but we will bring Jonas back in.”

“He’s back in the squad after five days of training.”

But the good news to offet this is that Jonas Gutierrez will indeed be back  in the squad after finally recovering from a hamstring injury.

Hughton has confirmed this morning that Ryan Taylor (calf) and Danny Simpson (ankle) are also doubts while Joey Barton (foot) is certainly out, as is long-term injured Shola Ameobi.

If Danny Simpson is not fit then we would expect Zurab Khizanishvili to partner Steven Taylor, but then the question becomes who would play at right back?

If Ryan Taylor is fit he could play there – or even Geremi could play at right back – since he played there a number of times when he was at Chelsea.

One other alternative is to give 17 year old James Tavernier a chance, since he performed quite well last week at Peterborough.

What do you think?

I hope we run riot over the R’s as they like to be called for some strange reason 🙁

If we can play like we did last match, we’ll romp them to bits a home in front of 40,000+ fans 🙂

Geremi at right back for certain…id argue thats its probably his strongest position, taylor to partner kish. If r.taylor is fit he should play the wing, was outstanding against ipswich and played a part in all we scored. However id like to see butt replaced by mclovin and harewood to start, tough choice but in place for Carroll…should be comfortable with this team, we are full of confidence but QPR will prove a sterner test than the last game…

At last, some good injury news if there is such a thing.
Jonas will give us an extra option if need be but i dont think Collocini will be that much of a miss as any frailty in defence has been when he has been muscled off the ball or out jumped at set pieces.

Its great to have Jonas back , even tho is final ball is shocking he gives us an extra dimension going forward and I dont think many fullbacks will be able to handle him this season , just needs to improve his final ball

i hope simpson and taylor are passed fit…if so your comment is valid in a way. Not the biggest Colo fan but outside a few shaky moments he has been very solid this season. Kish however could easially do a job there so as long as the other injury doubts are dealt with shouldnt be a major blow…

Solaidback I think they like being called the R’s as they know we’d call em the Queens otherwise

    geremi khizanishvilli taylor enrique

doesnt really fill me with confidence

then again with smithy and butt infront of them its almost like 6 defenders

    ————-harper
    geremi zurab taylor enrique
    ——-butt smith gutierez
    ————nolan
    ——-ranger carroll

a strong spine in the team.

am i right in saying guthrie is back from suspension?

    reckon he’ll go with

    r.taylor s.taylor kili enrique

    guthrie nolan smith jonas

    harewood carroll

think I’d prefer to see ranger than carroll but doubt hughton sees it that way

the holy grail, i believe all the shirts are being auctioned on the ipswich town website, they can actually organise something unlike the powers that be at our club.

Off subject a bit, but if we had some cover at LB, I would be tempted to play Enrique on the left wing! There have been some games this season he has looked like Ginola (although not as lazy!). To be fair like, I think that has more to do with the poor standard of the oposition, rather than Jose turning into an out an out winger. I know we are short of defenders at the minute so now would not be the time, but I would be tempted to give it a go when we are better staffed. Maybe try to bring Gareth Bale on Loan and push him up the park?

G i remember when ginola had that excellent game against the smoggies, he run 40 yards just to stop them getting a corner and put the ball out for a throw instead. How things change eh?

Ha ha, could be. Still head and shoulders the most skillfull player I saw in my life wearing a Newcastle shirt. Brilliant, yet infuriating at the same time. If only he tracked back and defended occasionally he would have had the lot.

Ginola, Robert, and N’zogbia were all excellent french left midfielders when they could be arsed, but ginola far better than the other two

Arguable that from that lot Nzog did defend, albeit, not through choice like. Robert always looked better when he had Olly Bernard behind him, and Ginola always worked best with Bez.

What’s this mystery foot injury Barton’s got? I think from his attitude in the games he’s played he’s been dropped. I for one thought he was a good signing when he first came and again I thought he would tear up the Championship, but let down again. Just get rid.

    ——butt smith geremi——
    ————–nolan————-

Those where my thoughts too , i really expected him to rip this division apart . As it is Smith and Nolan are doing it instead . I would like us to try a straight swap deal in january Barton for Zurab or Barton for Harewood it would be good for us a waster out and someone that wants to be here in .

@laurent: The team won’t be like that, we wouldnt play Geremi at RB when Simpson is fit. It will be something more like this, which others have mentioned.

    ——————- Harper ——————-
    Simpson — Zurab — Taylor — Enrique
    Guthrie —- Smith —- Nolan —– Jonas
    ————- Ranger — Carroll ————

Hopefully, Harewood would come on at 45/60 mins

Do you think both Jonas and Simpson will start? as they have just come back from injury. I think Simpson will get the start as he is the only recognised right back and Jonas will come on as a impact (hopefully sub)

Here’s my team for Wednesday night:
    Harper
    Simpson S.Taylor Zurab Enrique

    Guthrie Smith(C) Nolan

    Jonas
    Ranger Carroll
Subs:Krul, Harewood, Butt, Lovenkrands, Kadar, LuaLua, Vuckic.

Everyone is going on about how we need a left winger and cover for other positions well, there is plenty of players who are free agents who are good enough at this level.

    Julian Gray- LWB/LM
    Jonathon Fortune-CB
    Michael Ball-LB
    Micheal Misfud- CAM/ST
