Chris Hughton says he will enter the loan market again if he needs to reinforce the Newcastle United squad.
Chris Hughton – will use loan market as necessary
Local lad Shola Ameobi is the only long term injury so far this season, with a broken foot, so the club has done well so far with injuries.
Contrast that to last season when Smith, Viduka and Gonzalez were all missing until the new year – and the Uruguayan missing all season.
Interim-boss Chris Hughton admits that he is now fairly happy with the size and quality of his squad.
And he told Newcastle United TV this morning that he would enter the loan market again if it becomes necessary.
“It’s something that we’ll have to assess as we go along,” “I’m very happy with size of the squad now.
“If we manage to keep away from long-term injuries then we should be OK.” “But I would not hesitate in bringing the right type of player in at the right time should we need to.”
“I’m happy with the four lads we’ve brought in and they have settled well.” “They’ve came in to a happy squad which is winning games which, of course, is a big help.”
Certainly few would argue that the players he has brought in.
Lovenkrands, Simpson, Khizanishvili and Harewood have all strengthened the squad significantly, and they are all Premier League players.
If things continue as they are, we’d love for the club to to sign both Simpson and Khizanishvili full time come January.
