Hughton Will Enter Loan Market Again If Necessary

Chris Hughton says he will enter the loan market again if he needs to reinforce the Newcastle United squad.

Chris Hughton – will use loan market as necessary

Local lad Shola Ameobi is the only long term injury so far this season, with a broken foot,  so the club has done well so far with injuries.

Contrast that to last season when Smith, Viduka and Gonzalez were all missing until the new year – and the Uruguayan missing all season.

Interim-boss Chris Hughton admits that he is now fairly happy with the size and quality of his squad.

And he told Newcastle United TV this morning that he would enter the loan market again if it becomes necessary.

“It’s something that we’ll have to assess as we go along,” “I’m very happy with size of the squad now.

“If we manage to keep away from long-term injuries then we should be OK.” “But I would not hesitate in bringing the right type of player in at the right time should we need to.”

“I’m happy with the four lads we’ve brought in and they have settled well.” “They’ve came in to a happy squad which is winning games which, of course, is a big help.”

Certainly few would argue that the players he has brought in.

Lovenkrands, Simpson, Khizanishvili and Harewood have all strengthened the squad significantly, and they are all Premier League players.

If things continue as they are, we’d love for the club to to sign both Simpson and Khizanishvili full time come January.

Comments welcome.

    ‘If necassary’

Course it’s necassary! We have no defence!

We need cover for left back and somebody who can push forward well, like Simpson on the right. Teams like Chelsea, Barcelona, basically all the big teams realise the importance of attack minded full backs.

For me, Traore from Arsenal or Bale from Spurs would be good answers to this.

Given and Martins might not have been much to lose under the circumstances, but as they say, at least they were a start.

I can’t help wonder, as I come to appreciate how bad the Championship is and what a gulf in class to the Premiership, just how many of our current team would we want to still have with us if and when we have to face Arsenal, Man Utd, City, Chelsea and Liverpool again on a regular and equal basis? Smith, Nolan, Coloccini, Gutierrez, Guthrie, Carroll?

Remembering we are still top-heavy in wages, these lads might be tearing up the Championship but there’s going to have to be one hell of a shopping spree if we get promoted. Ashley isn’t going to do it and I’m not sure Moat will have the readies….

Most of our team now will hardly even get a touch when we get promoted to the premiership. That’s why come next summer we need to spend big on very good players.

What on earth makes you think we are going to be able to buy big if/when we win promotion??

The man Moat has been struggling to come up with the money to even buy the club, let alone run it or invest in it!!!! He hasnt even been able to convince the bank to give him the overdraft he thinks he needs!!!!

Cant wait to see the back of the FCB, the sooner the better, but – is Moat the man to take us forward, given all the problems he seems to have at the moment!!! I know he seems to be the only show in town, but is he the right show??

I would like to see us make a move for Moritz Volz, which would allow Ryan Taylor to focus on right mid and give us balance there. He was injured but close to full fitness again and awaiting offers. Wants to play in Prem but we should convince him that we can offer that imminently. Bale is the rumour at LB and that would be great but I can’t see it.

    He has the money!

His backers just aren’t keen on paying off an overdraft that Ashley has run up. Can you blame them?

Doesn’t matter how rich you are, you are not going to pay over the odds for an asset.

I never understood why the club needed an overdraft with a multi millionaire owner anyway.

Are left full backs as rare as hens teeth, are they too expensive or are they not being produced any more?
The reason i ask is that we have needed another one for more than a year and its seen by fans as an achilles heal but not considered a priority by the management and we all know what happened last season when Enrique got injured, so come on Chris, put your left full back prejudices to one side and get one in for us please.

Its going to be very interesting to see what we do when or if we get promoted who ever the owner is , I do think the majority of the squad would be alright for the premership but is alright good enough? Now im not saying if we get up we will storm the league but dont think anyone wants another relegation battle the first season we go up?

If we went up we would need a striker big time , think the forwards we have could struggle for goals, tho Ranger and Carroll will get goals but might be too much on young shoulders

We would need a winger or two and to strengthen the defense.

Get rid of butt geremi and i would say ameobi as well,

we’ll have money for wages next season as both butt and geremi will be gone.

We’ll def need a proven goalscorer – carroll and ranger have played well in fizzy pop but still cant score goals on a regular basis – if they cant do it in this league they’ll really struggle in prem – we def need a proven goalscorer to sign up
rest of team will remain and a few additions i.e left back and a creative midfield – reckon that will be about it even if we get promoted

agree that ameobi should prob go as well, he should do well in this league if he gets himself fit and we therefore should get 5 million for him from another fizzy pop team – he cant cut it in prem

right now we need a left back and a true winger. Jonas is our only true winger. Lovenkrands wants to be a striker and Ryan Taylor wants play right back and don’t even start with Geremi. If he can’t start in this league at his age, then get rid of him!
