Carroll, Ranger And Guthrie All Start Against QPR

nufc-crest qpr

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton makes two enforced changes to the side which beat Ipswich Town on Saturday with Fabricio Coloccini and Ryan Taylor both injured.
Argentine centre-back Coloccini (groin) is replaced by Danny Simpson, back from an ankle layoff, and in at right back, and Zurab Khizanishvili, on his home debut, reverting to center-back – as expected.

Ryan Taylor, scorer of one goal and maker of two on Saturday night, who has a calf strain, is replaced by Danny Guthrie in midfield.

Nile Ranger and Andy Carroll both continue in attack, with Harewood on the bench, and Jonas Gutierrez is back on the bench after a month-long hamstring absence.

Tamas Kadar seems to have recovered from his groin strain, and is on the bench tonight, in place of Ben Tozer.

Watch for Gutierrez and Harweood, and perhaps Lovenkrands all to make an appearance in the second half tonight.

TEAMS

Newcastle United: Steve Harper, Danny Simpson, Steven Taylor, Zurab Khizanishvili, Jose Enrique, Danny Guthrie, Alan Smith, Nicky Butt (c), Kevin Nolan, Nile Ranger, Andy Carroll
Subs: Tim Krul, Peter Lovenkrands, Marlon Harewood, Jonas Gutierrez, Geremi, Tamas Kadar, Ryan Donaldson

thats our best defense by far ofcourse houghton who arse is red raw from siting on the fence wont ever release.

how cant he see that butt is shocking ameobi is shocking and collocini is shocking

houghton will only sign players on 3 month loans howay man chris get some balls and get them for the season. the only player he has signed permanently is one he knows that the supporters like.
in 3 months time chris or however is incharge is gunna have to do this all over again.

dont get me wrong I admire chris for just getting on with the job but howay man have an opinion

Are they playing the two defensive mids with guthrie & Nolan on the wings, or is smith playing on the left in a diamond?

There’s absolutely no way that Arse is playing on the wing!

BigDave- Jonas cant use the mask anymore sadly. The FA changed the rules regarding celebrations like, a good few months ago now and im pretty sure he himself has said he had to retire the celebration because of it.

It was the Premier League that outlawed it. Whether the football league reached the same decision i dont know.

    Nobby Sol,

Because we need them now and we can always extend it/sign them in January. If we hadn’t of got Zurab then we’d be screwed for tonight so its a good job we did

Could the fact he is playing Butt be, that he is the manager and been around the game all his life and could possibly (along with prior managers here)know a little more about the game than those baying idiots who constantly call for his exclusion?
    Stop embarrassing yourselves, please.

We saw this intent on playing players that weren’t up to the task last season and look where it got us.

Butt has not been helpful at all this season, and Smith has done fantastic as a lone defensive mid with Nolan being able to patrol as an attacking center midfielder. That has proven to work. Butt has not. It’s simple observation

Dunno if the diamond formation should be utilised tonight as Rangers have 2 dangerous players out wide, in particular down the left with Buzsaky. Hence i would’ve left Butt out and included Jonas on the left and Guthrie on the right.

ah man, gutted, cheers anyway. guna have to watch MO probably score a hat-trick for man u with the radio on over the top….makes me sick, cant stand the man! n cant stand the fact he got a move 2 man u….massively jammy…him n martins are as much to blame as anyone IMO for last season, both missed absolute sitters that could have kept us up…n not just one or two sitters either….both guilty as! I’d love it if we play Man U at home again n Owens playing (hopefully next season)…am i right in thinking he’s one of the most hated ex-players of NUFC history? Or is it just me with this boiling sespit rage towards the horse-loving midget???
