Jonas Gutierrez is thankfully fit again, and is looking forward to getting back in the side, starting tonight at home against QPR.
Jonas – great to be back!
Jonas talked about being back today:
“I can’t wait to be on the pitch again. It was a long time out because it was a muscle injury. It was a month out and it was difficult to watch the matches in the stands or on television. Now I just want to play,”
“The players have done very well. It is good that I have a fight to get my place back because it means we have a very good team and the squad is a very high level.”
Jonas will realize that he will be one player targeted at Newcastle, if only because he and Fabricio Coloccini are current Argentine internationals, and how often do players of that caliber play regularly in the Championship?
And our stars can look forward to some very physical play from the opposition, although this season our players seem to be able to both take it and dish it out as required, which is one reason we have done so well – at least so far.
Jonas continued talking about the Championship:
“It is physical, technically it is less than the Premier League but all the matches are hard, more especially the ones away from home,”
“We have not been rattled by any bullies. We know it is big for a lot of teams to play against us because we are the biggest club in the championship. They run a lot and give everything.”
“Maybe the game after they play against Newcastle, they are very tired because they give so much against us. They work so hard and run so much – and we are prepared for that.”
We would love to see Jonas start tonight, especially if Ryan Taylor cannot play, and Jonas has proved he is more than a handful in this division, and can create many chances for our powerful strikers.
But the bottom line tonight is that Newcastle need a win – that’s job one.

Comment #3Agree with Benscott. Trouble is we may have Butt to start which leaves a slow puncture in the middle? I reckon Benscott’s selection should trounce QPR. Hope Ramage likes his return but not to win.

watch the video in the link, Jonas truly is one of our best players. Watch the video and see EVERYTHING Jonas does for the team. It’s amazing how many attacks he starts, how many times he wins the ball back coming back to defend, how many he times he just runs past players with ease using skill and pace, amazing just how much he creates, his pure work ethic. THE GUY IS AN AMAZING PLAYER!
Now that it is his second season in English football, he will have adapted and we will see the best of him from this season and onwards.

Comment #5Ericles: Butt a slow puncture. Very well said.
Smith is a much better option at this point with Guthrie there to push forward. Bring Butt on for Guthrie late if we have a lead.
