Zurab Khizanishvili looked the part on Saturday night and he is very likely to start at center-back tonight in place of the injured Fabricio Coloccini.
Zurab Khizanishvili – pushing for starting place
The 27 year-old Tbilisi-born defender told the Evening Chronicle today about Saturday’s game:
“When you are a player you play where you are told to.” “You use your brain to adapt, and everything went well.”
“I think I can quickly adapt to either position, it’s not a big problem for me.” “I’ve not played at right-back for Rangers, Blackburn or the national team – maybe only a few.”
“But I know I can play there if they need me to.” “Chris just told me before the game he wanted me at right-back at Ipswich, and it’s no problem.”
“I will do my best and it is more important to play in the game.”
This show clearly that Zurab is a great professional, as we had heard from his days at Blackburn Rovers.
Zurab played so well on Saturday night, and the returning Danny Simpson will need to play extra well tonight, because Zurab is pushing for a starting place somewhere in the back four.
Zurab was delighted at the support shown by the Newcastle supporters on Saturday night, and he is very much looking forward to his home debut tonight:
“I am very much looking forward to playing my first game at St James’s Park.” “I have played there before for Blackburn, but this will be a new experience for me.”
“To play for the home side is very different and very special.” “The games come very quickly in this division and that is good for me.”
The back-line tonight of Simpson Khizanishvili Taylor S. and Enrique looks strong, and it will be interesting to see how Zurab and Steven play together tonight in the center of our defense.
We need to get all 3 points tonight against QPR.
