Newcastle Fans And Club The Losers In Keegan Affair

Former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd believes the club and the fans are the victims of the dispute between Keegan and Ashley, and we have to agree with Freddy – for once.

Freddy Shepherd – fans and club are the losers

Shepherd said today:

“There are no winners in this case. There are only losers – the club and its fans. Kevin Keegan and Mike Ashley are just passing through – it is the institution of Newcastle United that is damaged by this episode.”

“During my time at Newcastle, when a manager left we always managed to sort it out amicably and agree on a settlement.” “And when Ruud Gullit left he agreed to waive all his rights to compensation. Gullit is the most honourable man I have ever met in football.”

“Things weren’t going well and he came to me and told me he had lost the fans. He told me he wanted to go quietly and didn’t want a penny paid into his bank account. There aren’t many men of that calibre in the game. He showed he had true class and integrity.”

And as Bobby Moncur said yesterday, the most important thing is how the team is playing on the field, which is why it was disappointing the team could only manage two draws in the two home games this week – we could have been 7 points clear at the top right now if on;y we could have registered wins against mid-table sides,  QPR and Bristol City.

But we’re now 3 points clear, and we have to be satisfied with that!

We may still be learning the league but at the same time the teams are learning us….very quickly!! I know at the moment we should focus on the Championship but friend in pub was saying had that been a premier game yesterday, we woulda lost! Even watching MoTD we look a million miles from even Burnley Birmingham etc!! Even mid to bottom end teams like Bolton have a good look about them!!!

Think if the takeover happens it needs to happen fast and give whichever manager the funds to do a good assessment of ever player then a mass makeover in January, get us in some shape to head into the Premiership! Waiting until summer could be suicide, never works with a brand new team with no game experience! Plus I still think 50% of our players should be sold!! We lack pace, scoring midfielders, creative midfielder, out and out wingers and cover for leftback!

I must say that I don’t think that the fans really are the losers in this affair. At least it showed that the administration currently running the club is truly horrible and needs to be moved out immediately! This gets rid of any MA supporters that are still around. I personally think that the team has been fairly lucky to this point. From the games I have watched we have never looked like a team that is comfortable and we have never really been in control of any of the games. I worry that this will continue to get worse and worse until we get some some strategies sorted out and at least one true goal scorer. We need to be able to score goals and at this moment we aren’t able to. Kevin Nolan is our top scorer followed by Ameobi… really… does anyone think that Ameobi can carry the team forward? Maybe Marlon Harewood will prove me wrong about not having goal scorers but I doubt it

We do have goalscorers in our team but we have no outlet to them! Longball or set pieces are the majority of our goals, until we get some comfortable passers, crossers even a player to run at defenders towards goal to create the strikers a bit of space!
Carroll could easily be a 10-15+ goalscorer with the right amount of crosses going to him! His heading ability is his main strangth! Ranger would thrive from the same along with some nice throughballs or creative passing, but both need games! Not wrappin in cotton wool….Loverlover needs good quality passes to run onto not random happy go lucky hit it long hope he can get to it! Behind the strikers though our team is a mis-mash of 7 regimes of managers!
I think Hughton is still doing a bloody good job under the circumstances! We need stability fast and a few years of it before we can dream of achieving the glory of old! Even though were still going to walk the league and were still a very strong team!
5-3-2 i’d love to see us try with R,Tayls and Enrique as WB, Tayls, Collo, Kishniviliki as CB, Nolan, Smith, Guti as the 3 midfielders with Ranger, Harewood upfront!

Shepherd should keep his comments to himself, he’s the last person on this.
The downfall of Newcastle United started with Hall’s & Shepherd’s & continued on with Ashley.
All these bought players against the manager wishes.
Hall’s responsible for Kevin Keegan leaving the first time, Buying certain players against his wishes
This last episode was Ashley doing the same.
Look back at Shepherd sacking Sir Bobby after 5 matches into new season. Sir Bobby was possibly
the best manager we have ever had, so Shepherd is the last one to talk.
Regarding Keegan constructive dismissal he had every right to follow his claim. Nothing has been said about London Mafia mainly Wise getting one million & we don’t know what the rest of his gang received ?

Kevin the first was saviour to our club, He bought Cole & then exchanged him for Alan Shearer, then the great team we had during his first period in charge. Should of won the league having 12 points in hand only to pipped on the post by MAN United.

The Quicker these chairmen disappear the better. Remember Halls & Shepherds sold their shares to Ashley at large profit & Shepherd left lots of unpaid bills to Ashley.
When Shepherd took over how managers he sacked ?

He’s got a nerve making any comments when he has been at the route of a lot of our problems.

I might be wrong, but when Sir Bobby Robson was sacked by FS, wasn’t the remainder of his contract paid out on a month by month basis rather than in a lump sum?

That fgreasy sponge has always maintained that Toon fans are losers. Isn’t that why he thought it funny that we fork out forty quid a time for scabby shirts that cost a fiver from some far-eastern sweatshop (where they employ more losers, by the way)? And why its fine to install your sister and pay over the odds to your brother and your sprog and your mate who runs Newcastle United International from a PO Box in Gibraltar?
