Mike Ashley Can Still Shock Newcastle Fans

There could have been some unfortunate news being reported yesterday, if Newcastle fans were able to read between the lines.

Mike Ashley Daughter - 2

Mike Ashley and daughter – is he staying at Newcastle?

In many of the Sunday papers it was reported that Ashley had planned to give out around £8M to Kevin Keegan, at least from a planning perspective, and therefore there was some money left over and Mike would be willing to give Chris Hughton around £5M for new players in January.

And then Dennis Wise, in trying to explain why the club were willing to pay Ignacio Gonzalez £1M to curry some favor with a South American agent,  said he thought that Mike Ashley would now keep Newcastle until the summer.

And the other news widely reported was that Chris Hughton would be appointed full time manager at Newcastle.

But surely that wouldn’t be done if Newcastle were about to be sold, since the new owners could bring in their own manager, and if indeed Barry Moat is the new buyer, it has been widely reported he would bring Alan Shearer back to manage the club.

So there are some disturbing indications out there that Mike Ashley may actually keep the Tyneside club until the summer, and attempt to even bolster the squad in January to ensure that Newcastle get promoted.

What’s in it for Mike?  He  could then sell the club in the summer, or try to – for a much heftier figure than the £100M the club is currently on offer for.

Will he actually do that after he has been disgraced by the Premier League  tribunal, who basically said he lied to Newcastle fans and others about Kevin Keegan’s powers to buy and sell players – as a public relations exercise?

We wouldn’t put it past him, but if we do get promoted, we had mentioned last summer that this sale thing would go on once again next summer.

That would continue to bring uncertainty to the club, at a time when we should be bringing in new players to strengthen the squad so we can hold our own in the Premier League next season.

Does that sound like deja-vu all over again?

Is this nightmare scenario possible?

Yes, it’s possible simply because Ashley has completely ignored Newcastle fans and former players comments, since he took over the club over two years ago, and on the rare occasions when he has communicated with the fans, he’s lied to them.

That’s not our opinion, those are the facts.

So there are now definite indications that Mike may be thinking he’ll just keep the club and make a nice profit come the summer, and get more of his money back, if the club can get promoted at the very first attempt.

We’ll just have to hope that in the next week or so, we see some significant progress on the selling front, but Barry Moat and others trying to buy the club must be willing to pay the full  £100M asking price, and not give Mike a valid excuse to hold onto the club.

Comments welcome.

He can do anything to make money. Infact when he first put club for sale, I thought what a foolish decision. As everyone new with proper selling of players and bringing in some new faces we can get back to Premier League in couple of years if not very first year. I just think once we relegated he should have taken things seriously and build the squad and get us back.

But considering how many mistakes he has done till now. He has let us all done and I don’t want to see him for long at Newcastle. He got enough chances but he never cared about Newcastle. Any DAFT can do better than him with the kind of money he was having.

Ed, I can’t work out if you keep rolling out that infamous George Bush quote “deja-vu all over again” because you think it’s funny or you’ve just been in the States for too long?

when is this Ashley nightmare going to end, talk of making Chris Hughton manager, holding on until we get promoted, if we make Chris manager within 6 months he will be sacked, 80% of fans want Shearer for manager, and if Ashley that thick he thinks he can ride ruff shot over the fans, i would advise him to go & have a word with Freddy, & find out how nasty it will get, as hes already blown his last chance, & the next target will be sports direct. wait until someone hijacks sport directs web site and diverts all his customers to jjb.

Now that Ashley has been exposed as a liar, I presume he does not comply with the ”fit and proper owners” mandate.

Sorry – but this is all a load of rubbish.

There is no indication at all that Ashley will keep the club – only the comments of Dennis Wise.

Sheard and Moat are both said to still be in talks with Ashley. Hughton taking over permanently is only speculation. Ashley making 5 million available is again only speculation.

As you said yourself – bad news for fans if they read between the lines. How about just reading ALONG the lines for a change.

if it is another messiah on the way at least its the unknown, as a Chris Hughton appointment will be the sack in 4-6 months, then we are back to square one minus a good coach. history always repeats itself.

It wouldn’t suprise me if this happens. Also, does anyone find it strange that penis wise says we WOULD HAVE GOT the best young south American talent for loaning Gonzalez, surely we WILL be getting this talent as the deal was done! Or has this proved that he/we were screwed over again!

Now that IS factual Ed. No arguments this time.

Can you believe you’re still writing articles about this bloke? Surely we should be part-way through a new regime by now and you should be waxing lyrical about our new owner? It’s depressing, eh?

Even though its all managed Ashley pr leaked lies designed and aimed at god knows what or who, its hit the spot with me and i have that awful sinking feeling associated with this club yet again.
Its futile trying to put into words what i feel about the man, its already been said by so many and it falls on deaf ears anyway but this Hughton yes man charade and the rest of it stinks.
It was meant to be short term but have we been had over once again?
Has Ashley got away with the biggest deception ever?
We assumed he was a buffoon making snap decisions but by going along with this perception and dropping a lot of smoke he has come out of the other side in tact with his long term plan achieved, a well supported club being run on a shoestring.
A whale of a man with Rhino skin and we have been well and truly dry bummed!

The trouble with our national irresponsible press is that we will never know the truth. The media, both papers and tv, have shown their bias towards Ashley over Keegan. The shat spat by that brat Wise shows this. There is money in shite whether it comes in a paper or off the shelf in one of Ashley’s shops. One day this trail of manure that follows Ashley and company’s every move will come to an end. When it does NUFC and the fans will still be here. WE are an INSTITUTION whereas Ashley and Wise should be in one!

You have to be careful Nick – I dont see anything in the verdict that states he is a liar – far from it.

The line re the fans being misled – simply meant the position was not spelled out to the fans and that those inside knew that Keegan didnt have the final say.

The Panel DID NOT accept that – therefore that meant Ashley had been telling the fans the truth not lies.

It was the defence that was flawed – no lies were told to the fans – the verdict backs that up.

You need to think before you type – it might cost you several thousand pounds in liable damages.

    – lie verb (SPEAK FALSELY)
    /la?/ v
[I] (lying, lied, lied) to say or write something which is not true in order to deceive someone

    mislead verb
    /?m?s?li?d/ v [T] (misled, misled)
to cause someone to believe something that is not true

Just like the tribunal verdict, it’s all there in black and white.

stardust… what the hell?! the verdict comes back, u still skew it. i think you’ll find misleading people, in the way the board did (the tribunal will vindicate us – thats what ashley said. the infamous FACT statement – obviously clearly now worth less than shitty loo roll) constitutes lying.

i know you say ur a staunch supporter of NUFC first and foremost, but surely if u really do care, you can see how poor mismanagement by the curent board has been a disaster in our progression? i mean, we got relegated for crying out loud, because of boardroom unsettling the whole infrastructure of the club. it has now been proven.

Stardick the dust, I think you will find the Chronicle are quite happy to tell it how it is, that we have been lied to, without any fear of being sued.

“Ashley as head of a disgraced empire has been stripped of any credibility after it was also admitted that the club lied to press and fans over Keegan’s position”

“Ashley is now viewed as the Gerald Ratner of football”

So claim your wages from Ashley but keep your biased and incorrect views to yourself in future. You have no credibility left on this blog!

my worry is that fatash will look at our league position and our attendances and think he will hang on and make some money.I know I am in no position to say it[I stopped attending nearly thirty years ago]but the only way to hit ashley is in his pocket and that means I think is to stop going until he has gone. I know I will get flak for this but that is my opinion.

I’ve been to more games this season than I have in the whole of the last 5 seasons put together.

Not sure what that makes me but I just pretend the bugger doesn’t own us.

I’ve just got my appetite back for it and I’m using my dodgy knee as an excuse to get to as many games as I can. Judging by how it feels, that might be a full season. And I only hope, I’m rewarded with a takeover soon.

It`s a no brainer, MA will hang onto the club until they gain promotion, hopefully this coming season.
And yes he may get some of the funds he has spent back, so what`s wrong with that.
Before anyone jumps on my ass, let me say I am no fan of his or his gang of four (not counting managers)
Yes the man has been awful as an owner, mainly through hiring the wrong people, who in turn implemented the wrong policies, that and the interminable periods without a word as to what his intentions were, the lack of any information was unforgivable and stupid.
However in his defense he has taken a bath with hidden debts from our previous Geordie owners (never mentioned by the fans) which he paid and is entitled to regain some of these funds , no?
Attempting to sell a club in the second tier with limited income during a long grinding season and no guarantee of instant promotion, in comparison to a PL team, well figure it out were you a potential buyer.
    No brainer,
    Moat= day late dollar short.
    And there aint no others.
