Alan Thompson – Reserve team coach hopes to maintain unbeaten run

Local lad Alan Thompson said today:

“It’s been a great start and the lads are still unbeaten,”

“The result at Huddersfield (we won 4-2) was a terrific boost and I thought the way we came back from behind to win showed real character.”

“It won’t be easy in this league this year and we found that out in the last game against Lincoln.”

“This will be a different kind of test because Boro will want to play football and, like ourselves, will probably include a lot of Academy players.”

“But this is a great chance for the lads to enjoy playing in a top stadium.”

“I know we’ve got a great record there recently and, although we always say the result isn’t the most important thing, it’s always nice to win against the North East sides because a lot of the lads know each other.”

The reserves are currently 3rd top of their league (Totesport.com League – East Division) with 7 points from their first 3 games, and are 3 points behind Leeds, but with a game in hand on the Yorkshire side.

Middlesbrough are 7th with 3 points from their first 3 league games.

We need to send the likes of Vuckic, Lua Lua, Donaldson out on loan. They will never improve fast enough by playing reserve or youth games.
