Juventus To Bid £3M For Tim Krul in January

News today that Newcastle United’s 21 year-old second string goalkeeper, Tim Krul, is wanted by Juventus.

Tim Krul – Newcastle’s future number one

Of course Juventus currently have Italian great Gianluigi Buffon as their goalkeeper, but Tim is certainly attracting attention as one of the best young goalkeepers currently on the scene.

The Serie A club, who were demoted a few seasons ago because of match-fixing and came straight back up in their first season (hopefully Newcastle can do the same this season), are reported to be ready with a £3M bid for the well thought of youngster.

Tim Krul may be approaching a cross-roads at Newcastle because at his age, he needs to play week in and week out, and sitting on the bench is not doing him too much good.

Krul has played only a handful of games for Newcastle, with 34 year-old long serving Steve Harper between the posts, and with no signs he will give up the position easily.

But it may not be much better for Tim at the Italian giants.

When Tim has played for Newcastle, he’s made 2 starts and one unbelievable sub appearance in the first game of the season at WBA,  he’s looked a top class goalkeeper, who will only get better as he gets more experience.

Tinm has also been told there will be no chance of him making the Dutch first teaqm squad unless he is playing regularly and that may rule out his chances of making the Dutch World Cup squad.

And a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Spurs, are all monitoring his situation, along with Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven in Holland.

Even with his lack of play this season Tim is well liked on Tyneside, because of his complete commitment to the Newcastle cause, and we’d love to see him stay on Tyneside.

He’s Newcastle’s future, but if he cannot get more games within the next 12 months – something will have to give.

What do you think?

if he cant get a game ahead of harper, how on earth he can play ahead of buffon in even years to come (considering the fact the goalies can play till 40’s) . the only plus point might be increased wages 🙂

Ed…..I’d be devastated if we lose him in January for 3 mill only cos this guy in few years with regular football will worth 20 mill at least.

I know Harper is a good GK,but we need to look at the bigger picture. He’s 34 now,2 more years and thats it.
One of biggest Newcastle mistakes ever was that they never trusted the youngsters the way they should.

Are we too affraid or what,,Real Madrid & Parma gave their young GK’s a chance to shine at the age of 20…Casillas & Buffon, and we all know how Parma was strong at that time(a top 3 team) but they had the guts to place a young GK in such a ambitious team who were title contenders.

We play Krul, its a Win-Win situation for everyone.Harper should know that he has 1 more year before his place is taken by Krul and if thats the way it should be….so be it.

Komfort…I know exactly what you meant.

But fans have the power to stop this if they want or at least they can try, what do you think it would have happened if Real sold Casillas at the age of 21 for 3 mill.
You would have seen massive protests and white flags inside and outside Santiago Bernabeu all over CNN breaking news.Thats the way every fan should stand up for the thing he loves so much.Thats the attitude, and not just wait and see whats the next bulls..t from the fat boy Ash.

What do you think if Taylor was sold last Summer and would there be any protests to stop that transfer….I don’t think so,you would sit and wait till the fat boy kills you completely without giving any resistance at all.

This is your club ffs,,no sorry…..this is not just a club, its a Religion for those who know how to appreciate it.

partizan .. were supposedly in the throes of a take over ??..so getting the bed sheets out at this stage is hardly gonna help any sale now is it !…

…all we can do as fans is to continue with our support for the team until fat boy is gone for good.

Komfort…Yes but at the same time you’re sending the message to the new owner that he can do whatever he wants with the club.

Protesting for something what is right, wont give NUFC fans a bad name at all.
You’d be more respected cos you fight for what you think is right.

The so-called interested teams (if in fact they are) have not offered first team football have they? We need to keep him at NUFC at all costs.

    Partizan – spot on mate.

We’d be crazy to let Tim go. He’s hardly a kid any more and needs games. Harper is good, but Krul is on another level altogether and it would be just like us to mess it up again.

Football is transitory and so are the players, yes it would be a loss to us as have several others.
If he is really wanted by one of the top clubs as with Bassong then there’s nowt we could do about it other than ask suitors to pay for the privilege to the tune of around £10m. I’m not sure that regular first team football would stop him wanting to go to one of the current superclubs.

Considering the nature of this season it is fairly likely that Harper will get some sort of injury at some point, then we will see if Krul can displace him. I wouldnt jump the gun though lads there has been games when Krul has had a stinker aswell.
