A Fit Gutierrez Likely To Start For Argentina Today

Jionas Gutierrez has today saif he is happy that Newcastle allowed him to have treatment by the Argentine medical staff and it looks like he’s fit and likely to start for Argentina in their game with Peru today.

Jonas Gutierrez – likely to start today

We have to hope the lad is 100% fit and not being risked at all, because Newcastle just haven’t a big enough squad to have too many injuries this season, at least not now.

This will be Jonas’ 13th cap today for the Argentine,  in a crunch game against Peru, and Gutierrez admitted:

“It was fundamental Newcastle gave their permission for me to receive physical treatment in Argentina.”

There are all kinds of rumors going on about bribes taking place for this game, but we have to hope everything is above board and with Peru rock bottom of the South American qualifying league, you have to expect Argentina to get all 3 points – but anything is possible of course.

Chris Hughton thinks he will feel the benefit of Gutierrez’s involvement, and is similarly hopeful his other players away on international duty will not return injured, as our squad is already paper thin.

Chris said today:

“You are always hoping that players come back unscathed and uninjured, particularly Gutierrez, who has a long journey.”

“He has two big games for Argentina, and has a long journey back, but these things you have to get on with.”

“And if he plays a part in the two games, the fact that he’s been out for a period of time may benefit him.”

“You are always keeping your fingers crossed that players come back fine, but it wouldn’t concern me if he does play.”

Newcastle’s other international absentees are Geremi (Cameroon), Zurab Khizanishvili (Georgia), Andy Carroll (England Under-21s) and youngsters Nile Ranger and Ryan Donaldson, who are away in Slovenia with England’s Under-19s.

Andy played 90 minutes last night and scored 2 goals, as the England U21 side beat Macedonia 6-3 at Coventry, and Ryan Donaldson played the last 20 minutes for England U19s in their 3-1 win over Finland, but no sign in that game of Nile Ranger.

Comments welcome.

Would probably be good for him to get some playing time. He was out for a while after a great start to the season and was a bit of the pace last week when he came back for us. Hopefully it will be to our benefit.

The Hungarian team the best one between 4 alone from Europe.

Gutierrez will play at right back for Argentina today. Maradona is certainly desperate about his country position at the moment. Hope Peru can get them out of the World Cup.

getting a new kitchen & i decided to get a diy job from B&Q and now’t fits, when finally finished & someone asks where it was from, it will be B&Q via wood work shops, what started as a scheme to save (& pocket) some money now become a nightmare, new appliances when the only thing wrong with the old ones is color, i could have got a box at st James park for what this is costing, think i will go back to pretending i’m deaf. cant even pack up for the football with these breaks all the time, still have not finished setting up the new projector for the footy, i have to have an operation on my knee soon so i will be laid up for a while, i will be stoned on morphine, watching old games all day i bet i will forget about relegation & Ashley god help when the drugs where off and back to reality.

“He (Moat) has offered £90million and has even put the cash in an account as proof of funds.

The deal should finally be completed by the middle of next month. ”

    month not week? lol

I was at the Argentina v Peru match tonight and Jonas looked alright. His main job seems to be to take throw ins and pass to messi, but he did both perfectly well and did a couple of decent bits of skill. He seemed to be playing in a wing back type role, which he was fine doing, tracked back well as always.

I look forward to having a proper creative player back in the team, he should tear the championship apart. It’s a shame he cannot shoot, but he’s still a different class than your R. Taylors and Geremis…

Was nice to see Nobby Solano playing as well. Quiet first half but set up their goal and the Nobby of old woulda pulled the trigger rather than pass a couple of times, nice memories though…

Couldn’t actually see the second Argentina goal because of the rain, made it look like it only drizzles at home like and covered stands are deinitly taken for granted…

The fella who scored it (palermo) also scored a 40 yard header last weekend…

just spent ages writing a post and it’s gone… maybe it’ll pop up again. Anyways, I was at the Argentina v Peru match tonight and Jonas looked decent. His main job in the team seems to be to pass the ball to Messi and take the throw ins, which he did very well. Couple of bits of skill and tracked back well in his maradonna’s idea of a wing back role.

Look forward to having him back in the team, he’s a different class than our other ‘wingers’ and should tera the championship apart.

Nobby Solano played tonight as well and after a quiet first half set up the Peru goal, but the Nobby of old woulda pulled the trigger when he was in a couple of times. Nice memories though.

Palermo, who scored the second goal for Agrnetina, which I couldn’t even see it was raining so hard (made me realise how much we take covered stands for granted), also scored a header from 40 yards last week for Boca, never saw one fo them before!

I also got interviewed for what I imagine to be Argentine Sky Sports News and the interviewers were bigging us up for having Jonas and Colo. They stupidly asked me what I thought of Maradonna’s managerial ability as well though…
