Newcastle look to have a number of good options up front, when you consider we now have Harewood, Carroll, Lovenkrands, Ranger and Nolan who can all play at the striker position, and Shola Ameobi expected to return in December.
Marlon Harewood - powerful striker
Youngster Andy Carroll jas a couple of goals this season, but Lovenkrands and Carroll still have to get off the mark.
Chris talked this morning about our strikers:
“The most important thing is they give us options,” “In Andy Carroll, Nile Ranger, Marlon Harewood and Peter Løvenkrands, and Kevin Nolan can play there, we have different options.”
“The most important thing is they continue to learn and enjoy this division. At times we have found we need to go longer at times. Of course there are not many better than Andy in the air.”
“ But his form this season has been excellent. He’s developing very nicely and is a huge asset for us and, hopefully, England.
“Young Nile has also come and had a real impact on the squad. He will be in and out of the side, as will Andy, because of the other strikers we have but they will definitely be better off for the experience they are getting at the moment.”
It’s good that we have some options up front because while the defense has been great with 7 clean sheets in 11 league games, we need more goals to cement these victories, and Chris may need to use many different options up front to win the games.
It’s starting to be quite exciting to see some of our youngsters emerge into the first team.
Andy and Nile are the two most prominent youngsters, but we keep hearing great things about Haris Vuckic.
We would expect the Slovenian 17 year-old to make some appearances before the end of the season, and Hungarian center back, 19 year-old Tamas Kadar has also looked very impressive, when he’s played for the senior side.
Comments welcome.

Keep CH as manager with a very good director of football who can attract players and show a good image at NUFC. and add Guus Poyet as coach.

Seriously. Look at this sentence. Why don’t you proof-read what you write, or at least spell check it? So does Carroll have any goals yet or not??

Batty – so was Stevie Taylor. Hope you don’t want him out too!

As far as I am concerned its about who loves the toon not where you live or were born.
There are some very stupid shits from the toon who would take the club for every penny…….ring any bells……so give over about where people are from and where they were born. If they support the toon and have our best interests at heart, they will do for me. If C.H does get the job , just hope he does better than Glen Roder did when he took over.
