Andy Carroll is back on Tyneside today after helping the England U21 side get a valuable 6-3 win against Macedonia last week.
Andy Carroll – after scoring England’s 4th goal and his second
Andy started the game and was preferred to Manchester United’s impressive Danny Welbeck, and he repaid the confidence shown in him by coach Stuart Pearce with two good goals, when it mattered.
England were 3-1 up at one stage but Macedonia came back tio scare the young lions and tied the game at 3-3 before Andy scored his second goal.
The win has England currently second in their qualifying group for 2011’s European Championships in Denmark.
Of course the team we reached the final of the last tournament in the summer, but then collapsed and were beaten in the final 4-0 by Germany.
Andy was very upbeat about both the win and his performance as he said today:
“It was an important win for the team and I’m delighted to get my first goals.”
“It was an honor to be called up but to start, play well and score a couple is unbelievable.”
“I want to play a big part in helping us get to the finals and we’re in a good position at the moment.”
We’re glad he’s back, fiit and raring to go for our important game at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Comment #1If this lad continues to perform well, I can see him being our number 9.

Comment #2All this talk of England NOT having a BIG man upfront (other than Heskey and Crouch)
Andy Carroll to the world cup? IMO YES!

Comment #3Carroll is definitely better than Heskey, and has potential to be as good as Crouch. He has a little bit of pace and has good physique to be a great targetman.

Comment #4Delighted for young Andy, well done.
Changing the angle slightly, has anyone heard anything as to what happened to young Nile Ranger? I cannot find out whether he was withdrawn/injured. He certainly was not even on the bench for either game.

Do you actually believe what you’re saying? I agree he’s got potential and could become quiet good. But at the moment he’s not there yet, he sure is getting better and better with the experience but he hasn’t showed much on higher level. U-21s and Championship isn’t comparable to World Cup and Premier league standards.
So let’s stop putting pressure on these guys and see what they become.
