Nicky Butt has talked to day about the need to appoint Chris Hughton as the permanent manager, and has opened the lid on how loud the dressing room is for the Newcastle players.
Nicky Butt – talks about manager and music
Butt told the Evening Chronicle today:
“The team is showing there is belief here, and Chris and Colin deserve the job now.
“Hopefully they get it and that will mean we can all concentrate on the job in hand.”
“People keep looking at us and say ‘they still haven’t got a proper manager’ even though Chris is acting manager.”
“He’s not done anything wrong, but he hasn’t been named as boss.” “So it would be nice to see Chris get the job.”
Newcastle have dropped four points in their last two home games against QPR and Bristol City, and now have a tough road trip where 3 of their next 4 games are away.
But Nicky Butt seems confident that the team spirit the lads have created this season will be enough to see them through the hard times that will inevitably come this season.
And it seems loud music is played in the Newcastle dressing room, which has surprised many of the away club’s staff on the road.
Apparently each player has to nominate a track for away games before they are put together on CD and blared out via a sound system in the dressing room.
Hey – whatever works.
“It’s something that we do now. We’ve all got our own songs and we play them before each game.”
“If it’s a lucky song it keeps getting played – hopefully we’ll keep on doing it.”
If only Mike Ashley was listening to anything of what Nicky says.
But we know he takes no notice at all of what the Newcastle players and the Newcastle fans say – they presumably mean nothing to him.
What a way to run a football club, and the real question has to be why did Mike want to own a football club if he treats the fans and players like this?
