Is Steven Taylor Out For Up To Six Weeks?

A report in the Times this morning by the usually reliable George Caulkin,  suggests Steven Taylor will be out of action for up to 6 weeks.

Steven Taylor – out for 6 weeks??

Steven has a hamstring injury, which he sustained earlier in the week, but we have been told that both he and Fabrico Coloccini (groin) are in the frame to play tonight against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

No official word from the club on whether the injury has become more serious, but if Steven is out for up to 6 weeks, that will be a tremendous blow to the side, and his absence will be until early December.

It may be worth trying to bring in another center-back – maybe former player Andy O’Brien from Bolton Wanderers – as one example.

A loan deal for Andy was almost worked out in the summer but his wages were said to  be too much for Newcastle.

We’ll have to wiat and see if the Times report has any substance to it.

I thought “hammies” were the most unpredictable of injuries? Hard to say if it’s 2 weeks or 6? Maybe just presenting worst case scenario? Let’s hope – I do not like the defence with him missing – and even less if we have any more injuries. What previous matches (Huddersfield, Peterborough) have shown is that our promising youngsters are still just that.
