Danny Simpson – two defensive errors led to goals

Danny talked to the Evening Chronicle today:

“It’s not a nice feeling.” “We were 1-0 down and got a goal back.”   “The feeling through the team was that we were going to win it, or we were going to take a point and move on.”

“We didn’t feel we were going to lose the game once it went to 1-1.” “But we conceded a poor goal – both goals were poor.”

“We’ve had chances up front, but we can’t be conceding goals like that.”

One of the things in Newcastle’s favor this season is that no team in the Championship is dominant and Newcastle are still second on goal difference in spite of earning just 2 points from the last 12.

WBA were even beaten 1-0 at home to Swansea City last night, so if the lads can put a good run together we should still be OK.

Simpson added:

“It’s disappointing – we could have had some more points on the table, but we can’t dwell on that.” “We’ve just got to move on to the next game.”

“It’s a tough ground, but it was disappointing to concede their winner like that.” “Everyone feels down – we know we’re better than that.”

“But we’ve got to move on to Saturday. We’ve got to bounce back with three points.”

“You can see through the league – it’s West Brom, Middlesbrough and all of them. It’s not an easy league. We went in at the end and we were still joint top.”

“The other teams have lost, but that’s sometimes more disappointing, as we could have had a big lead now.” “We’ve got to play right on the training pitch, and take that into the games.”

“We’re disappointed, and I’m sure the fans are even more disappointed.” “They traveled all this way, and on Saturday as well, and they didn’t see us win, or get a point.”

Good words form Danny, but he’s right that we just cannot dwell on last night, and we now have to move forward.

3 points on Saturday is what we need against Doncaster, and that will go a long way to improving the tone on Tyneside.

Howay The Lads!!

we would be better off with the banana splits playing, this shower of shite couldn’t fight there way out of a paper bag, had enough now i will not be attending anymore games until ashley is gone and we have a proper manager, not just some wannabe, if you look back over history most people that get promoted to manager fail within the first year, i will give hughton 6 months max before he is sacked, not because i don’t like the guy far from it he has been a massive asset to NUFC but he’s not managment material the lack of tactics have been impossable to miss unlike our opponents goal
anyone got a beachball for saturday 🙁
