Newcastle’s Joey Barton had done a good deed to the clinic that has helped save him from the ravages of alcoholism.
Barton – bought Sporting Chance clinic a bus
Joey has paid about £20K and bought the clinic a mini-bus it needed desperately to transport people around.
Apparently Barton wrote out a cheque for the Hampshire clinic, which was established by former Arsenal great Tony Adams — who recovered himself from alcoholism — to aid sports people beat destructive addictions.
The cash strapped clinic were unable to afford the bus, and as soon as Joey heard this – he wrote out the cheque.
Joey of course is out with a long term injury to his foot, and is unlikely to return until last February or early March.
Let’s hope we’re still in with a chance of promotion by the time he returns.
But it’s a good deed by Joey and we applaud him for it.
We hope this is another sign that maybe he has recovered from his rash tendencies but yes we also know – he still has a long way to go.
