News today that Newcastle are jeeping an eye on 21 year old Norwegian Joakim Rudolfsen.
Joakim Rudolfsen – 21 year-old striker
Tne Evening Chronicle is today reporting that Chris Hughton could make a move for the young striker when the January transfer window opens for business.
Whether we have any money to spend in January of courser is another question.
Rudolfsen was originally scouted by Dennis Wise, but the promising young goal-scorer has continued to be on the Newcastle radar screen.
Newcastle chief scout in Scandinavia, Norman Wooster, has watched little known Rudolfsen who plays for second division Norwegian side Mo IL.
Rudolfsen has scored 18 goals in 18 games this season, but Hughton knows that he will have at best limited funds to spend in January, but Rudolfsen is understood to be available for a nominal fee.
Rudolfsen would clearly be one for the future, and would need to be brought along at Newcastle.
A source close to Mo IL told the Evening Chronicle today:
“Everybody here knows that Newcastle have been watching him.” “They are not alone though as many of the top clubs here in Norway also like the look of him.”
“He’s progressed very quickly in a short space of time.” “English football is huge here in Norway and both the Premier League and the Championship are screened live here so he would need no introduction to the English game.”
“Any youngster from this part of the world would jump at the chance to play in England, especially at a club like Newcastle.”
If this lad can be picked up for a nominal fee he may be worth a chance, although we do have a bevy of young good strikers already at the club.
We haven’t been able to find much information on the player although we’re sure that’s a picture of the lad.

Comment #5He’s pretty good! Would probobly challenge the likes of Andy Carroll and Nile Ranger..
He’s powerful, got pace, good in the air, good tecnique and is a very good finisher..
His team might get relegated, and therefore will be available at a good price..
And the even more impressive, he’s scored 18 goals in 18 matches, for a team that might be relegated…

Comment #13Surely could get him on trial first. Impressive goal scoring ratio, but it is in the norwegien third divison, so would be best to get a good look at him on trial.

Comment #14Banana, I thought youtube scouting was frowned upon!
Joakim is a great player, he was tracked by Molde FK (Second place in Norwegian top flight) last winter, but the deal fell through because he had a slight injury at that given time. Many other norwegian clubs have been scouting him, and i’m 100 % sure he will go in the january window.
I dont think he will break the 1st team this season, but he will only improve. He wants to be the best, and will train incredibly hard to be that.
Right now, the clubs who are interested in him are said to be: Rosenborg (1st place in the norwegian league) Molde FK (2nd) Lillestrøm (12th) and Bodø/Glimt (15th)… I know that both Molde and Bodø/Glimt have been following him for between 2 and 4 years.
This season he has been awesome, scoring 18 goals in 18 games, for a team that might be relegated. Which basically says that he’s the type of forward who can create things out of himself.

Comment #16Thought we had no money for “real” transfers, thanks to Ashley? Perhaps they accept peanuts?

Comment #17And I think his contract expires in the summer.. So should be available at a decent price 🙂
A trial would be nice!

Comment #18Hope you are right banana. I remember watching that game in awe. Thinking this guy is amaing. Exactly the type we need at the toon and surely even our hopeless scouts have Hume in their radar. In all honesty after a performance like that, he made cr7 and the rest o united look silly, that he’s be on his way to a top club. Here’s hoping.
Oh and I thought I woul just add that I am somewhat pleased by our current lack of form. I really believe that if this team gets back to the prem we will do more damage than another year in the champ. I mean you really think this core of players can cut in the prem the second time? Nope. We’d yoyo between divisions forbyears. We need to cull a full clear out. My 2 cents.

Comment #19Get real. I’m norwegian too and believe me, this guy isn’t anywhere near as good as Carroll and Ranger. The top of the norwegian premier division is not that bad, but quality drops like a stone below that. Second division is probably like the english league 2 or something.

Comment #20Kristfro, I know this guy personally, and he is tippeliga quality. And tippeliga quality should in most cases be able to get a shot of playing in the championship.
Nonetheless, in the real article by the Evening Chronicle, it says that he’s for the reserves. Which would make him a challenger for a spot on the first team. I watch him week in week out, so I think I would be a better judge of that then you.

Comment #21Although he has talent, he will need quite some time to adjust to the pace. I’ve never seen him play, but it sure helps if he has good physical abilities.
If he is transferred to the Toon, at least he will get a beautiful kit for once. Mo and Mjøndalen is just awful..:P

Comment #22Look we have been rumored to be looking at both this guy, (the Norsky) and a sixteen year old Irish kid.
Thats all very well for the future, but we need players who can fit in right now.
Our scouts should be scouring both the UK and European leagues for players like Bassong and N`Zogbia .
What am I saying, it`s all paper generated crap anyway and Ashley is not about to dip his hand into his pocket regardless, he does`nt have the foresight.
