Only 2 Points From 12 But Newcastle Still Second Top

Hughton has reminded supporters that even though we have just 2 points from 12 we are still in an automatic promotion spot.

Chris Hughton – still second top

Chris talked about our bad spell over the last 4 games:

“We are disappointed, but that is the league we are in.” “It is not only us who has gone through some difficult times at the top end of the table.”

“We have an opportunity tomorrow to put it right.” “I have not been too unhappy with the performance either at Scunthorpe or in the second half at Forest, where we created the bulk of the chances.”

“Of course, it is about turning that into wins and we have not been able to do that. This is an opportunity against Doncaster to change that.”

“The expectations are always going to be with us.” “We are a side which plied out trade in the Premier League last season and there are always going to be big expectations from everybody, including our fans.”

“That is a pressure we have to live with throughout the season.”

We need 3 points tomorrow, and also we hope the fans can support Chris – because he’s an hones guy doing the best he can to get the lads promoted.

Aren’t we shooting ourselves in the foot a little,  if we don;t support the manager?

He’s done really well so far and now has to break this bad run of form over the last 4 games.   If we can win tomorrow afternoon, things will look a lot brighter on Tyneside, that’s for sure.

The team is poor, the manager is weak, the players are not even fizzy pop quality.

They will get their chance to shine next season in Div 1.

Boro be on the up with new manager. QPR starting to score goals with a game in hand and have money to spend in Jan if they get summat at Derby Sat will be right in the mix. Forest, Baggies and Cardiff will be up there so who can grab the last play off place?

Reality is, when we do play, we are just outdoin the fizzy pop league at its own game – lumping it up to the big lads. There isjusty NO sign we are in preparation for life back in the Prem even if we are promoted in May. Chris Hughton’s appointment on a permanent basis just seems to confirm that, even though most fans are grateful for the holding job he has done under the most difficult circumstances.
Unfortunately for Chris, his appointment seems symptomatic of a regime limping from crisis to embarrassment and back again. Its nothing personal, but if he stands too close to Ashley and Llambias, he is going to be seen to be backing and endorsing them. Its tough but its the reality. We just want shot of them.

Come Saturday it could be 2 from 15! Where will Hughton have us then – on our way back to an automatic promotion place? Even our small squad should be outplaying most Coca Cola teams. We are not. The “big boot of St James Park” used to be the great Frank Clark – not the bunch of under-performers, playing Hughton’s visionless game, we have now.

I agree and have said for ages the football is Drivel,we can’t string a couple of passes together, nobody can beat the last defender from the wing and whip in an accurate cross.
