There was a huige surprise before eysterday’s game in that both Danny Simpson and Fabricio Coloccini didn’t make the game through injury.
Andy O’Brien – get this player in on loan
We had been told that Fabricio was all ready to play but both players were not fit enough to start yesterday and young Tamas Kadar was drafted in at the last minute.
The youngster did OK although he was at fault for the first goal conceded, but the experience will do him a power of good.
And with Zurab Khizanishvili’s being sent off late in yesterday’s game, maybe it’s time for Newcastle to draft in another center-back on loan.
We don’t know the statsu of Coloccini, Simpson and Steven Taylor, but we have to hope all three will be available for our game a week tomorrow at Sheffield United.
But the lack of two solid and experienced center halfs, in the absence of Colocccini and Taylor, have already cost us too many points.
Khizanishvili’s sending-off – and subsequent three-match ban – leaves manager-in-waiting Chris Hughton facing a shortage of defedners for the Sheffield United game, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if he tries to draft in somebody, like former player Andy O’Brien, from Bolton Wanderers.
Newcastle will appeal Khizanishvili’s red card, but it may still be hard to overturn the sending off.
Chris said today:
“I certainly wouldn’t rule out an appeal,” “It’s the correct procedure for us to look at it and make sure we’ve got all our facts right.”
“But my first reaction was that I couldn’t believe it.” “It seemed to me an incident that would happen at some stage in every game in any league.”
“Not only myself, but everybody else, was astounded. At first glance, their lad seemed to be the aggressor.”
Now’s the time to start bringing in reinforcements for the side, starting with another center half.
Andy would be great.
