Is It Time To Draft In Another Center-Back?

There was a huige surprise before eysterday’s game in that both Danny Simpson and Fabricio Coloccini didn’t make the game through injury.

Andy O’Brien – get this player in on loan

We had been told that Fabricio was all ready to play but both players were not fit enough to start yesterday and young Tamas Kadar was drafted in at the last minute.

The youngster did OK although he was at fault for the first goal conceded, but the experience will do him a power of good.

And with Zurab Khizanishvili’s being sent off late in yesterday’s game, maybe it’s time for Newcastle to draft in another center-back on loan.

We don’t know the statsu of Coloccini, Simpson and Steven Taylor, but we have to hope all three will be available for our game a week tomorrow at Sheffield United.

But the lack of  two solid and experienced center halfs, in the absence of Colocccini and Taylor, have already cost us too many points.

Khizanishvili’s sending-off – and subsequent three-match ban – leaves manager-in-waiting Chris Hughton facing a shortage of defedners for the Sheffield United game, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if he tries to draft in somebody, like former player Andy O’Brien, from Bolton Wanderers.

Newcastle will appeal Khizanishvili’s red card, but it may still be hard to overturn the sending off.

Chris said today:

“I certainly wouldn’t rule out an appeal,” “It’s the correct procedure for us to look at it and make sure we’ve got all our facts right.”

“But my first reaction was that I couldn’t believe it.” “It seemed to me an incident that would happen at some stage in every game in any league.”

“Not only myself, but everybody else, was astounded. At first glance, their lad seemed to be the aggressor.”

Now’s the time to start bringing in reinforcements for the side, starting with another center half.

Andy would be great.

How about drafting in another 7 or 8 players, to suplement the the ones we have, before they all start keeling over with the cold & damp of a winter campaign??

No is the answer. We have young centre backs. in Kadar Tozer and Morris. We do not need any more deadwood like Sol and O’Brien. The evidence of Harewood and Zhurab prove that. Look at our competitors all packed with young hungry players. That is the route we should be going. We do need a natural wide right player. All Guthrie and Barton want to do is cut inside and play from the middle

I do not trust Hughton to bring one in if Zurab and Harewood are typical of his choice of player.

I would rather we give young Tamas Kadar a run in the team, he was not half bad yesterday.

I agree with Buda. The issue with these loan players of a certain age..and im directing the at Harewood and Khiz is that they arent good enough for their own sides and therefore should have no place in ours. We have a number of youngsters that should be filling the gap when senior players inevitably become unavailable.

Also, we are desperate for a wide right player to balance the team, that should be our priority in Jan window.

Andy O?!!! Come on, we were pleased to see him go a few years ago, it’s no point of bringing him back now.

I can’t wait till the club has money to purchase proper players, bringing in players from the scrapyard like we’re doing lately really makes me sad.

How about getting Moritz Volz in? Free agent, versatile and has always put in 100% every time I’ve seen him play

When will the bed sheet brigade finally realise that they have NOT helped this club one bit, and their protests have only helped Mike Ashley. Mike Ashley, despite putting the club up for sale, was never going to sell before we got promoted. He is no idiot, that would cost him millions. No, he will wait until we go back up and then sell us at a drop of a hat. All the bed sheet brigade have done is given him further excuses not to spend ANY money at all. He will sell the club no earlier than he originally planned to and will simply use the excuse, “i’m selling so i’m not putting any more money in” until he leaves. Mark my words. MA will walk away a richer man when he sells this place. It was his intention from the beginning to strip us down to the bare bone and then sell us at a profit.

Ed, surprised you havn’t posted about the NOTW article where our fans attacked Ashley in the stands at Glanford Park and how he had to be saved by stewards!

If i was a steward there, i’d have turned my back on the fat cnut and let him have it!

    Well it is the NOTW!
Amazing that a story like that from TUESDAY evening escapes the attention of all the national and local media until the Rag of the World reports it 4 days later? Either they have great investigative journalism, the rest of the press is blind and deaf or maybe, just maybe it’s a ridiculous exaggeration or even (dare I say it) a lie?

Incidentally, the answer to the question posed is “No”.
If we can get Staylor and Colo back, Danny S at RB plus Smudger will definitely return, we should be more solid – and I don’t think Kadar was too bad for only his 2nd start.
Much rather have a pacy, skillful midfielder or two and a back-up LB!

How about Titus Bramble, been playing well of late.
Give the crowd someone to boo, but seriously watched him last week, had an outstanding game.
Coulda had Kilgallon earlier in the season, also playing well, however price has gone up, as i am sure Bramble`s has.
    Andy O`Brien, nah !
We are without doubt no where close to being the club we were under Sir Bobby.
This is apparent by the quality of the players we are looking at.
    Ah well !

You should be the freak to support the mad football club like Newcastle Utd and that what I am.

Don’t bemoan it because you cannot do anything with this situation. Just keep the faith, whatever will be will be.

    Nobody read this?

A teenage footballer who plays for a north east club, living in Gateshead, and an England Youth player.

Does anyone know where Ranger lives?

    Scary Dows, scary!

Off tack a bit but given Ashley/ Wise taking Gonzalez as a ‘commercial’ deal to sweeten south american agents, Jonas and Collo haven’t exactly set the world on fire have they?

And, surprise surprise, Hughton’s offer hasn’t been formalised yet – no surprise there if Llambias made it!

And I’ve read somewhere/ heard (talk sport radio?) that Ashley’s going to decide on the ownership of the club in the next few days……. could this mean that Moat’s offer’s not dead yet?

The only place in Gateshead that Ranger oculd be is either the Gateshead Hilton (doesn’t sound right does it) or……. at Carrol’s mothers.
