We said at the beginning of the season that if Newcastle were to do well this season we would need some of our youngsters to show through this season.
Tamas Kadar – held his own on Saturday
Of course we have had Nile Ranger come through this season big time, and after his introduction after the hour mark on Saturday, Newcastle started to get on top.
The other youngster we are really keen on is Hungarian Tamas Kadar, who looked very solid in pre-season but has had to to wait until Saturday for his full league debut.
And this morning manager Hughton has said he will not hesitate to hand Tamas Kadar another chance again for game with fellow promotion candidates Sheffield United next Monday.
Kadar gave the ball away on the left, which eventually led to the Doncaster goal on Saturday, but it was just an awful goal to give away, and it would be harsh to lay the blame at Tamas’ feet.
He’ll be told to boot the ball high and long whenever he’s in a similar position again, and he’ll learn from the experience. But after the ball was given away the Newcastle defense seemed non-existent.
Hughton was forced to end the game with two teenage center-backs Kadar and Ben Tozer, after Zurab Khishanishvili was sent off.
And with the Georgian suspended for the duel with the Blades, and injury doubts surrounding Danny Simpson, Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini, Hungarian Kadar is poised to make his second league start of his career a week tonight.
Reflecting on Kadar and Tozer, Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:
“They both held their own, particularly Tamas, who played the whole game.” “I am pleased for him because he will be delighted.”
“There is nothing better for him than to play on a winning side. I’m really pleased because it’s a game under his belt and it’s a good experience for him.”
“Ben Tozer came on late in the game and has also been involved in some of the action for that period.”
We’re big fans of Tamas Kadar, who was called up by the full Hungary side when he was just 17, so they think he’s one for the future.
But Hughton has more injury concerns, and of course Zurab Khizanishvili got himself sent off, but it was the lineman who told the referee that Zurab had grabbed the Doncaster player by the throat – but it hardly deserved a sending off.
However, we also doubt Newcastle will be successful in any appeal.
Chris said:
“What we are hopeful for is players coming back.” “Fabricio Coloccini looked like he was going to be OK until Thursday.”
“He had a fitness test and just didn’t make it on the morning of the game.” “We’re hoping the fact that he was that close means he will be fit for Sheffield United.”
“That will give us a big boost in a department that needs boosting at the moment with Zurab looking like he might miss it.”
Newcastle are coming through their first bad patch of the season, and the players just have to get to grips, and start playing much better than they’ve managed in the last 5 games. They have to show more confidence in themselves too.
But we have the skill and determination in the side to do just that and Chris added:
“We know we are not going to have things our own way.” “Teams are going to come here and put bodies behind the ball and fight us – they’ll find that extra 10%.”
“We know that and at this stage it is just about winning games.” “What we’ve done is win enough games to be on top of the division, but we need to make sure we are under no illusions.”
By the way, for those who have a subscription for NUFCTV – the game’s highlights are up there now – we’re still looking for a general video of the game to display for our readers around the world.
If you find one send us it via the CONTACT US – and we’ll get it up there – thanks.
Here’s the penalty miss but it looks like the cameraman went wild with other Newcastle fans after Martin Woods blazed terribly wide. 😀

Comment #1Good to see Hughton standing by kadar , only saw the hightlights on the bbc but people were saying he may of been fault for their goal, young players will make mistakes but its good he gets another chance as the more first team he gets the more those errors hopefully stop.
The likes of kadar ranger lualua etc etc need to take their chance in the 1st team when it arises

Comment #2Good to see a young-un stand his ground in a senior match; so many have been found wanting recently – even Kaz, a favourite of mine.
The Championship is a tough league for young, inexperienced and often rather frail players – they get outwitted, outmuscled and intimidated. Tamas seems to be able to deal with that, much like Nile.

Comment #4Good to see the young guns getting a chance. Kadar and Tozer must know each others game pretty well by now. Championship “tuff”? Try making the move up against Rooney Berbatov Van Persie etc. Championship is made for them.
