We Got Out Of Jail – With Help From Our Fans

Kevin Nolan has rightly admitted that Newcastle were just a little fortunate to beat Doncaster on Saturday.

Kevin Nolan – injury time winner

A defeat would have been catastrophic for the team, let’s be honest,  so even though we were lucky to finally get all 3 points, this could be the most important win of the season so far.

It has put us back on top of the league, after 5 games in which we have been poor at best, and we’ve dropped 10 points in that time too.

The win will give the lads confidence, but we must start to settle down in these games and start to play the good football we showed earlier in the season.

And some personal confidence from the lads wouldn’t hurt either – since we are probably the best team in the division – but we have to also prove that with the results – game in and game out.

Kevins’ rather dramatic injury-time winner had secured an unexpected three points for the team, and sent he Geordie faithful into wild excitement at the final whistle, after Rovers missed a penalty on 75 minutes, with the scores level.

Kevin talked about getting out of jail on Saturday (and he’s right about that!):

“I think anyone who comes here will make things difficult for us. We’ve missed glorious opportunities. But in the end we’ve got out of jail.

“I think the fans have been absolutely fantastic with how patient they’ve been with us. They’ve backed us all through the game, even when we were 1-0 down.”

So we have to hope that with this win, the lads can settle down a bit, and start to play the good football we know that’s in them, and we last showed in any depth at Ipswich Town.

Of course it will help us big time to have Steven Taylor and Fabricio  Colloccini return from injury, which we have to hope is a week tonight at Sheffield United, our next game.

Nolan for England….infact nah he’d come back injured! Him and Smith in a diamond is a must if they’re both fit! 2 creative wingers with those 2 as the engine would be immense! Bring back Ginola and Gillespie!

Hopefully this poor run will turn out to be

    a) A reminder to the players about what can happen if you give less than 100%

    b) Over.
