Hughton Calls For Unity From Newcastle Fans – He’ll Get It

Newcastle recorded their highest crowd of the season on Saturday as almost  44,000 fans flocked to see the Newcastle side’s 2-1 victory against Doncaster Rovers.

Chris Hughton – let’s all pull in the same direction

And on the morning following Chris Hughton’s appointment as permanent manager on Tyneside, he has come out and asked the fans to all pull in the same direction.

Chris may be worried of some isolated calls for a boycott at Newcastle, but that will absolutely no good, and we have to support the coach and the players just as much as we can – even if the clueless owner is still around.

It’s not Chris Hughton’s  fault that Mike Ashley is so useless, or seems to go about trying to rile the Newcastle faithful – this time it’s to change the name of the hallowed St. James’ Park  – does he do this on purpose we wonder.

Hughton told Newcatle United TV this morning:

“The fans have been magnificent this season.” “From the very first game they have been right behind the team.”

“The players and myself know what a difference that makes and it has gone a long way to getting us where we are now.”

“We knew it was going to be tough, and we’ve found that recently.” “But we’re still in a magnificent position at the top of the league.”

“And, if everybody can pull in the same direction like they have done so far, I’m confident that we’ll put this football club back where it belongs – that is the most important thing.”

Good words from Chris and we’re sure Newcastle fans will continue to flock to the ground – after all they made a huge difference on Saturday, as they almost willed the team to an unlikely victory.

Fair comments, although no doubt some idiot will still throw the word ‘boycott’ around. I agree that we need to unite behind the club, I aint happy that MA isnt selling, I’m incredibly unhappy about the naming rights thing, and I didn’t particularly want CH to be our full time manager, however, all these things are happening, lets get behind our team and try to enjoy our football, this is our club, our team, our city. Lets dignify ourselves, and make some noise.

    What a load of 5hit.
The football is dire CH,This team of so called premiership quality players are making hard work of utterly atrocious opposition on a regular basis under your guidance….If you get newcastle promoted I will happily dance naked at the re-naming ceremony of The Cockney Crucible Stadium.

I expect new monuments erected soon in solid brass in honour of CH,DW,DL and a big fat brass MA.

Guys, Jesus we know it has become a bastion of misery, lies, deceipt and sould crushing devistation but Chris is all we have at the moment. Don’t pick on him. He is the product of a much greater problem.
Pick on Fatso and his casino sleezebag and their whole corrupt life style. Fill your pockets full of eggs those of you any where near the directors box just in case said parties show up!
As a born Geordie I bleed like all of you. It is our religion. Take a step back and focus on those that would harm us, not those that have tried their best beacuse it comes from their heart.
Chris has far greater ethics then any of those failures of humanity above them.
    Focus on your objective!

totally agree,at least CH is trying to do something for the club, and i think everybody knows, that if we do go up,we will need a new manager, but for now let him get on with it, No its not pretty,No these players we have could not compete in the prem we have very little class,BUTwe are top leave CH ,to do his job concentrate on getting the main man out , because very soon there might not even be a Newcastle United

    Agree with Batty post 1

    Let’s not forget:

“The Club admitted to the Tribunal that it repeatedly and intentionally
misled the press, public and the
    fans of Newcastle United.”

    also

“Its defence on the primary liability issue was, in our view, wholly without merit and it chose to make entirely unfounded allegations against Mr Keegan.”

Unity at SJP, not a chance while this owner stays.

I have just posted something like this on chronicle: I am not sure of the legalities of renaming, sure you can probably call your company anything you want, but erecting any signage would require planning permission from the city council, which given the unpopularity would be difficult to come by. There are also the historic considerations and I am sure there would be unprescedented numbers of objectors if any such application was made. Also as a company, would you want to be associated with a move which could ultimately damage your business due to its unpopularity? We are stuck with the fatman for now, I doubt he ever intended selling, it is his stated business plan to buy cheap youngsters and sell on at a profit, and only announced his intention to sell when season tickets etc were up for renewal. He has pulled the same stunt twice and next years will be something like I am putting x millions in for new signings which likely will not happen. Been there before havent we?

Hughton is now the front man and fall guy for the Cockney Mafia, he is well part of it and as such should be treat with the same contempt as they have shown us fans.
We are not so daft as to take in all these hollow battle cries and all the rest of the crap being spouted by Hughton and players alike, we know the team and the club is shite and nothing said will change that.
As for fans turning up and backing the team, they always have but with little return on their ticket money, its time the club and players started doing it for the fans instead, now that would be a refreshing change.

Of course Hughton wants us to unite in one direction, but that direction is the one which sees his lack-lustre ,under-performing team getting massive crowds out of blind loyalty – bad performances have been the norm for a number of years granted but with the additional fact that the club now officially mislead us you should make up your own mind.

They NEED people to keep going regardless out of loyalty because the impact of a large drop in gates and home game income would mean Ashley would have to put more money in to reduce the losses – by going to home games we save Ashley money in a way.

As for all the posts saying there is nothing we can do about it since he owns the club I would say use the same argument they do for saving energy and global warming – every individuals actions can combine for the greater good. If you feel that going to support a team of under-performing and overpaid “stars” is suitable, then feel free, keep in mind that by doing so you are also perpetuating a situation which will see Ashley in charge for years to come. Mind you, now might be the time to make the most of seeing some of those players – they sure won’t be around come the next transfer window…

@ToonMobile – it isn’t a case of saying there is nothing we can do, there is lots that we can do, I have already suggested turn arounds and singing against MA, but to suggest staying away is madness, when all of the evidence suggests that with the way he runs a business he will simply react by making things worse, therefore nobody wins from the fans, MA is no worse off.

If anybody has any better suggestions I am open to offers MacToon, but MA is not running the toon in the way most people would run a football club, he is running it like he runs his stores, when income goes down, the staff get it first, if that doesnt work, he looks for saleable assets and sells them, therefore, staff get made redundant, more players are sold / released / the facilities are stripped then sold, and the club is suddenly worse off, and MA is still rich – no change there then.
