Khizanishvili’s appeal for his red card against Doncaster had been rejected – as we expected.
Khizanishvili appeal not successful
If you are going to appeal a sending off it seemed a mistake from the start to say you agree with the sending off, but that it shouldn’t be the full 3 match ban.
That sounds like honest Chris – but it hardly will win any hearts and minds at the FA – in retrospect we should have just appealed against the sending off.
Hughton was apparently very surprised at the decision, but yesterday we didn’t expect any success with such an appeal.
Khizanishvili was always going to miss Monday night’s game at Sheffield United – but he will now miss the two games against Peterborough and Preston North End as well.
Coloccini was only a late withdrawal from playing against Doncaster, and Hughton remains hopeful that Coloccini can figure at Bramall Lane.
Simpson returns to training today and should be fine for next Monday.
We’d like to see 19-year-old Tamas Kadar play alongside Coloccini, if he’s fit, and keep Simpson at right back.
That will allow Ryan Taylor to play more up-field, where he can be more dangerous to the opposition.
A win against Sheffield United would be a great result for the side, and then we face Peterborough at home the following Saturday – and we need some revenge for our defeat in the Carling Cup.
6 points from the next 2 games is what we need.
