Renewed Optimism Over Coloccini And Taylor For Blades’ Game

Chris Hughton says he is very optimistic over the chances of defensive pair Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini being fit for Monday night’s game with Sheffield United.

Taylor and Colo – hope these two are fit!

Yesterday’s half expected news that Newcastle lost their appeal to reduce the three-game ban handed out to Zurab Khizanishvili,  means the expected fitness of both injured players is even more important.

Taylor has missed the last three games because of a hamstring injury, and a groin injury has seen Coloccini out since last month’s fantastic 4-0 win at Ipswich Town.

Both players have been badly missed during that time, when Newcastle have won only one game – last Saturday against Doncaster with a last minute winner from  the great Kevin Nolan.

Hughton is hopeful of both players being fit for the important game next Monday night, where we really need all 3 points:

“Both players have made very good progress,”

“I am very optimistic that both will be fit for Sheffield United.”

It would be great if both players can indeed start the game next Monday night – and finish it too. 😀

Both players are very important in our all-out promotion push this season.

I was told a while ago that if MA took the club of the market there would be a substantial amount of transfer requests being banged in, this list included Staylor, Colo, Jonas, Smith, Jose and Barton. I do hope this is just a pub rumour that got out of hand. Glad to see Colo back, not been convinced at all by Simpson at CB or Kivshaniv at CB. Would keep Simpson in the RB and Kivshaniv for back up LB.

No more follow the news, shut your computer down and sleep. It will be better for your health. Because it’s too much terrible thing happened since yesterday and it’s not the last. You all know that.

Supporting Newcastle really made me sick.

G, as soon as I heard the news my thoughts turned to those players who were with us last season and exprerienced Ashley’s shennanigans and the likelihood that their heads would go down.

I sincerely hope not and trust that when MA talks about being commited to getting the club back to the Prem, that he realises the need for investment in the players we need to get us there, then keep us there.

@Trent toon, I don’t particularly see that as Ed’s responsability like, but I certainly wouldn’t be against it, however, if you have a look at the NUST website I think they are doing this already? I read the mission statement on the website when they re-launched and I’m sure it had similar opinions about the whole ‘once voice’ issue.
