Taylor, Simpson And Coloccini Expected Back For Bramall Lane

Great news today that there could be a triple defensive boost for Newcastle’s visit to Bramall Lane on Monday night.

Steven Taylor – expected back next Monday night – great!

Fabricio Coloccini, who has been missing with a groin problem since last month’s wonderful 4-0 win at Ipswich Town – made a successful return to training yesterday.

Steven Taylor and Danny Simpson are expected to return to training over the weekend, putting themselves in the squad for the very important Monday night game at Sheffield United.

But Hughton will be without suspended Zurab Khizanishvili, but that only makes the return of the three that much more timely and important.

Chris said today:

“Coloccini trained yesterday, so unless he breaks down, we’re confident he’ll be fit,”

“We’re building up Steven Taylor this week, and we’re very hopeful he’ll play on Monday, and also Danny Simpson.”

“Realistically, we’ll be looking at Saturday (with Taylor). He’s been doing some very good work, and, hopefully, he’ll join in with the group.”

“Danny hasn’t trained, but, of course, he’s been involved in the games at Scunthorpe and Forest, so his fitness isn’t an issue. We’re hoping he’ll be training on Saturday.”

19 year-old center-back  Tamas Kadar made his full Championship debut against Doncaster Rovers, and is ready to play should Coloccini and Taylor fail to prove their full fitness.

But if either one of the center-backs is not fit then Tamas can come in and play alongside one of the exerienced center-backs – and there would be no reason to play Simpson in the center of defense.

Right now it would appear that Steven Taylor is the least likely to be ready, and we should not risk him unless he’s 100% for Monday night.

We do have a home game the following Saturday against Peterborough United, and then that’s followed by another two week break.

Steven and the others can then have even more time to fully recover, before our league program continues at Preston North End on Monday night, 23rd November (7:45 pm KO), followed by home games against Swansea City and Watford on the following Saturdays  (3:00 pm KO).

    another two week break wtf!!
teams outside the prem should be able to choose wether they need an international break – we won’t have that many away that would be missed imo, all these stupid breaks do is force us to cram games together and therefore risk injuries
