I'm old enough to remember that the same arguments took place about the McKeags that are taking place about Ashley.

They say history never repeats itself. Well, I can see it before my very eyes.!

We were one of the best supported clubs in the country in the 50s, 60's and 70's without real success after 55. Everyone said the fans would win through and oust the Mckeag regime. It got as bad as below 10k crowds before a turnaround occurred.

What you young lad can't see, and i'm only 41yrs, is that it's identical to that era now. Say 1975.

There is only one way to get rid of this fat bastard otherthan stop going, like the loyal fans did in the 70's, is to demonstrate with all your heart.

Drive him out!! he will come to the stage where he will think it's not worth holding on and suffering .

The alternative.? A slow death until another SJH comes along in 20 years, if they do at all. No guarantees in this world.

Everyone, can you not see that Newcastle was one of the best supported clubs in the 70’s but the McKeag regime took over from the Seymours and the same arguments took place. Though they didn’t have the benefit of chat blogs, pubs and clubs were full to the rafters.

The crowds year on year dwindled, before there was a massive slump.

Maybe you are too young to remember but fans, who used to pay pennies, not astronomical money now for a day at the match, just got sick.

Believe me, fight now when the troops are big and not when apathy sets in.

I’ve seen it. Have you?

This is a story engineered by the journeyman himself.

1. @ 35 he's looking for a pension and sees us as the fund, however there's a wealth of experience in his abilities and do we want that to steady us?

2. The other option is a 25 year old who has a lot to learn but age on his side, and probably commanding less wages and so could be viewed as a better longer term investment.

My view is that for too long NUFC has been seen as a soft target by historical signings and the managers of old have done little to stop the rot, we've a history of signing players past their prime at higher wages and ultimately has led to this position in which we now find ourselves.

Houghton might be Cashley's yes man but has to stand his ground here and not sign Campbell, albeit a good play a) past his best b) asking for too high wages c) Notts County deal did not work out for him and so he's now looking to capitalise on Plan B.

Please stop this not otherwise we will not learn any lessons from past mistakes

Rant over, looking for decent results today and a win in Sheffield on Monday night, Howay the Lads

I would rather sign G.Speed to be our player/coach more than S.Campbell. However depend on Hughton. He's our manager now.

I might consider a modest wage until the end of the season. 2 to 3 year deal? Come on he'll be coming to SJP on a bus pass.

“People might be surprised to hear me say that I would be very interested in a move there, but I have my reasons.”

Seriously?

So beyond past it I actually feel my stomach feeling a queezy murmur at the prospect of this absolute plank joining our club. Anyone who welcomes this prospective move is a F****n idiot. End of story.

Sol is too old, spend the money elsewhere. His lass looks a bit tired btw, I recall seeing her some years ago.

That Zurab-guy is a disaster, I'd cancel both loans for him and Harewood, they are both sh|te. Bring in younger players, if this club is to go somewhere, it's not with players ready for retirement.

Dont know, just think we need cover rather than players that will go straight into our starting 11, would only keep Simpson out of our loan signings though, so a LB, LM, CB, RM and another ST as backup
