Chris Hughton After Long-Term Contract At Newcastle

Chris Hughton at least has the right attitude, and few Newcastle fans would disagree with that.

Chris Hughton – wants to be Newcastle manager long term

How could anybody else survive at the Newcastle club over the last 20 months, (close to 10 years at normal clubs), and actually love the club a lot more than when he started at St. James’  Park a year last February? 😀

Let’s at least give Chris some credit for what’s he’s been willing to go through in the name of the famous Newcastle United football club, which of course is known the world over.

What we don’t know with Chris, just as we don’t know with Alan Shearer, if we were to be brutally honest,  is whether he’s got what it takes to be a top manager in the Premier League.

But we are willing for Chris to be super successful on Tyneside.

He was asked today, by the Sunday Sun, and told the only certain thing about being Newcastle manager is that he would get the sack – sooner or later:

“It’s not something you think of when you take on the job but it goes with the territory.”

“The things utmost in your mind are the excitement of being in the position and the job in hand. Longer term (the target) is to earn an extended contract.”:

“And the only way you’ll do that is by doing well enough in the period of time that you’re here. That means getting this club back up into the Premier League.”

If Chris does get the club promoted and Ashley decides to stay on (oh no!), it seems almost certain that Ashley will extend Chris’ contract along with that of Colin Calderwood.

But if that happens we’re not sure how we can attract top talent to the club – that’s the dilemma we have on Chris staying on longer than this season.

But maybe that is an unfounded concern – what do you think?

Comments always welcome.

The team is jaded, makes hard work of pub standard opposition,I think it would take a miracle to get this current team promoted.

I think like many fans last week the appointment of CH as manager was a bad move especially after an awful run of results…then to top it of the selling off of the clubs history to the highest bidder has just made me feel sick to my stomach.

This nightmare is going to get worse I fear, promotion this season is never going to happen with the current manager and squad.

Patience?? We have been patient for over TWO years whilst this moronic owner has destroyed our once proud football club.

He has made a profit by selling players in every transfer window he has presided over. He has broken every promise he has ever made, nothing that comes out of the mouth of FCB can be believed.

He has reduced the club to a laughing stock with his notions of how to behave – wearing a toon top to games, boozing with the fans, acting like the lout he most obviously is.

Its long past the time when this odious litttle man removed himself from tyneside forever – You fat cockney barsteward, get out of our club.

Hughton has a long term contract, i for one do not expect him to last beyond 6 months, as he does not have a clue about how to manage a football club.

I see it all ending in tears Dave.
He is not management material and the football is painful under his guidance.

Bring back JK all is forgiven 🙂

I think Chris Hughton deserves his chance. He was not my first choice but he has convinced me he is the man to lead us out of this divison. The players , for whatevr reason support him , and he has helped develop a close knit squad with that us against them mentality which I thkni will get us promoted

    Really?
He has done nothing to convince me he can produce a promotion winning team…the results recently have been abysmal and the football is route 1 nonsense.

I think Hughton is doing a good job, ok afew errors here and there but he has us at the top of the league well just about.

I dont know what more you can ask of him? ok it would be nice to be top with a 12 point gap to 2nd but at least we are competing in the ccc its a refreshing change from the last few seasons.

cant see any manager wanting to come here and work for Ashley, i think Hughton is the diamond in the rough.

Ed you can not see how Ch could attract top talent . Do you mean top talent like Kliuvert , Boumsong , Duff , Owen , Cacapa , Geremi , & Viduka ? The players that have over the last few seasons bled this club dry with massive salaries and got us relegated . Have none of us learned the lesson yet . We need young hungry players to nuture into top players . yes we need a new owner but we also need a diffrent mindset into transfer dealings who ever eventully buys the fat t##t out . More of the likes of Bassong and Ranger and less of the EMO types and we will get back to where we belong .
