Bad News – Taylor Doubtful For Sheffield game

We were hoping that Steven Taylor would make the game tonight but of the 3 injured, which included Danny Simpson and Coloccini – Steven was always the one that looked to be the most doubtful for tonight.

Steven Taylor with Coloccini – doubtful for tonight 🙁

Chris Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Steven will be assessed today.” “But he is a doubt for us and we’ll wait until the last minute before making a decision.”

“We’ve certainly got Fabricio Coloccini and Danny Simpson coming back in, so we still have options.”

Normally Newcastle would turn to the experienced Georgian International Zurab Khizanishvili, but he is  banned tonight and for 3 full games, following his sending off against Doncaster Rovers.

The good news is that Hughton will have £10M Argentine defender Coloccini available, and he will proebably partner him with young Hungarian Tamas Kadar.

We’d like to see Tamas play tonight, because we think he will do well alongside an experienced center-back like Colccinio and will learn a lot from the experience.

As our readers will know, we’re not too keen on playing Simpson at center-back, and while  Tamas was a little bit nervous against Doncaster,  the more games he gets under his belt the better he will become, and the promise of this youngster is high indeed.

Sheffield United are a physical side and Tamas can more than hold his own in that departement, standing a good 6’2″ tall.

Hughton added:

“Tamas comes into consideration and he’ll be on a high after playing against Doncaster last week and winning in his first league start for us.”

We’ll be disappointed if Tamas doesn’t get a chance, and a back four of Simpson, Coloccini, Kadar and Enrique has plenty of experience in there, and should be able to perform well.

However if Kadar plays that will put extra responsibility on Coloccini on his first game back, but his experience will help him help Kadar through the game, which we have to hope is  a victory.

It’s starting to be crunch time at Newcastle when Newcastle fans will know if this team can indeed get us promotion this season, but we have to play a lot better than we have these last 5 games, that’s for sure.

Anything other than a win will be extremely disappointing to Newcastle fans.

Sheffield Utd have 9 players out tonight so we SHOULD get the job done!!!

I also hope Kadar does start alongside Colo so we can have Simpson at right back and R.Taylor at right midfield.

    Come On The Toon!!!

I would deffo play Kadar at CB rather than Simpson. Simpson is fantastic in the RB slot, but at CB he looks out of his depth. I would rather the young lad got a game is STaylor is not fit.

Yes it is sad we will be missing Tayls, he would have made a huge difference. However, like bloggers above, I hope Hughton plays Kadar alongside Collo and keeps Simpson for right back and pushes Ryan Taylor wide right.

I am glad Zurab is banned, can you imagine him against a very physical Sheff Utd side or even playing young Simpson in the middle with his lack of height?

It is a shame Taylor may miss out; but is is a long hard season and he should not be risked if not fully recovered.

I think everyone is off the opinion that Danny Simpson does not work at centre back!

We will be playing against Darius Henderson this evening. We will not win anything in the air against him as he is probably the most dominant arial force in the league after howard at leicester, so it is vital we get tight to him and pick up the second balls.

    We have to start getting balls into the box; this for me means that R.Taylor has to be pushed out wide right. I would start with the following side;

    Harper

    Simpson S.Taylor Collo Jose

    R.Taylor Nolan Smith Jonas

    Ranger Carroll

…although I feel CH will play Guthrie instead of R.Taylor and possibly Harewood instead of Ranger…

They have alot of players missing tonight so if we keep the ball better than we have done; actually turn up in the first 45mins and keep it tight then we should pick up al three points.

These young lads will only improve by playing first team football, give them their experience instead of playing people out of position, which can suggest the gaffa doesn’t have much faith in them.

    Premier,

what kind of crack is that mate???

“God help any young un who has to learn from Colo the clown!!”

Collocini has been one of our better players this year… yes he had a bad 1st season, but you have to remember he is new to the english league..

i think you want to stop getting onto the lads playing football and concentrate on getting behind them!

Couldnt agree more with comments here today (exceptions to Premier)

I think the next two games are vital to our promotion challenge, Injuries aside our defence is solid enough for the CCC however we have to start bangin’ in 3+ goals a game.

    QPR…Cardiff…WBA

Have all been doing it most of the season, Toon are averaging around 20 shots per game

Im sure the goals will come from a pair of very promising forwards lets hope it begins tonight.

We should win tonight but I can’t see it I hope I’m wrong but I think we have no flair in the side we don’t have one player that can do something unexpected.

Darling27 – You’ve forgot James Harper being out tonight aswell, thats a massive bonus. I rated him even in the prem with Reading.

On paper, Sheff Utd have a lot of players and we should have a great chance to win tonight! Unfortunately, this is Newcastle, and where there is a record to be broken or things go our way…… inevitably we balls it up! 😀
