Hughton Looks Certain To Strengthen Magpies Squad In January

The evidence keeps mounting that Newcastle will almost certainly add to their squad – maybe significantly – in January.

Chris Hughton – almost certain to increase squad in January

That’s even if it means all the players are brought in on loan, since the club is strapped for cash this season, as they struggle to pay the still high wage bill at the club.

Newcastle  Managing Director Derek Llambias said earlier in the week they would be willing to back Hughton in the transfer market with
either loan or permanent signings.

However, that statement from Derek was confusing and we think most, if not all of the players, will be brought in on loan, and it would be a surprise if the club can pay out much in transfer fees, for permanent moves.

Chris will be at St. James’ Park tomorrow, for the first time since becoming full time manager, and not many fans have much against Chris – we all hope he will be ultra successful – although some of us have doubts he can do that long term.

However, we would be very happy for Chris to prove us wrong … again. 😀

Remember, it’s not Chris’ fault that Ashley is incompetent – and that’s putting it mildly – and he also has to somehow work well with Derek and Mike for the good of the club – which is all important.

Chris told Newcastle United TV that he would be looking to strengthen the squad in January:

“The most important thing is that we’ve got to get to that stage (January) and make sure that we’re still very much in contention,”

“That means winning enough football matches from here until the window.” “That’ll be my responsibility, to make sure we strengthen where we need to strengthen.”

“It’s the biggest and the best opportunity that we have going into that second half of the season and we’ve got to make sure that we’re not short in any areas.”

We’re starting to like the way Chris thinks – very down to earth and takes nothing for granted – and those qualities will be needed if he is to steer Newcastle towards success.

We are now starting to become upbeat that we could get 4-5 very decent players in on loan in January.

There are lots of  players available – both on loan – and as free agents – that we can get to help us to promotion  – and if that happens we have to sing at least 5 very good players – and we’ll need transfer money for that.

Season long loan deals could also be worked out.

Comments welcome.

Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that we’re still up there by December and any players that come in are worthy of a place here.

Additionally, those who are clearly not committed to the cause would be best shipped out – perhaps it’s time to call it a day with Harwood?

However, it’s essential that any of those so called high earners who have workeed their chuckies off for us (eg Smudge, Nolan, Collo et al) are not allowed to go just to bring in revenue.

It’s all down to Hughton’s recommendations and whether or not the purse-holder (MA) is prepared to go along with him.

We have no choice but to wait, be patient and have faith that we’ll go up and are quickly sold to a buyer who’s commited to the club’s ongoing growth and success.

If his idea of Strengthening is repeated by what he did in last window promotion will be unlikely!!

Just got to hope it has finally dawned on the fat man that he has to invest alittle in the squad to get us out of a tough league at the first attempt. Then he can sell for a bigger price and finally get out of a business he is hopless at.

It’s better if CH don’t try to improve the squad if players like Lovenkrands, Zurab and Harewood are the kind of players he sees as good recruitments.

Leon Cort’s we don’t need, we have youngsters who are better. If we are to get some players in, I would rather have 2 young and hungry lads than 4-5 loan signings from PL who are our of shape and over the hill.

Dream on lads, Ashley ain’t gonna buy any players because if he does & he’s unable to secure a buyer for the naming rights, he’ll have to give money out of his own pocket & we all know how much he loves doing that so far!!
What we’ll get in are loanee’s like Marlon Deadwood who come here, get paid & do bugger all, then come the summer, if we get promoted, Ashley will put us up for sale AGAIN & no new player will be brought again for our 1st season back in the EPL, then we’ll get loanee’s again because no one will buy the club at the prices Ashley wants for it & this vicious circle will continue because we’ll be relegated again & no one will buy us because Ashley has cursed our club to be doomed forever!!!

Ed you raise public optimism and yours aswell by claiming/hoping we’ll get 4-5 players which we havent seen in any of the windows gone passed in ashley’s regime….keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best….i’d say a decent winger, a cover LB & a CB will do us good for promotion kick…..send zurab & harewood back

Why dont we do what teams before us have done and raid arsenals youngsters, that would give them experience and would give us hungry young players like wiltshire, ramsey etc!!!

Im sure Fran Merida wouldnt mind playing infront of 40,000 + every other week!!!

Jesus Christ Mike its not rocket science!!!!

I know this is nowt to do with this particular thread but I just want to say I think the fans shuld protest against Ashley at this weeks match but not while the team are playing, do the protesting before kick-off, at half time & at the end after the boys have won yeah, during the 90mins, all the fans should be behind the team & keep any anti-Ashley protest for when the boys are not on the pitch yeah!!!

Zurab aint done to much wrong as a RB, pretty poor as a CH but he was playing there due to injuries.

    Simpson has done well

Harewood has been worse than useless – I think everyone thought he would score goals at this level and the only saving grace is that we can send him back in Jan

Lovenkrands has been the big surprise – he looked like he’d be a great addition to the team adding some much needed pace – however he looks like he can’t be arsed to turn up since he signed a contract – pity we didn’t give him a short term deal!
