No Secret Clause To Leave Newcastle In Gutierrez Contract

As we half expected Chris Hughton wants to keep every player he currently has when January 31st rolls around, and the transfer window slams shut.

Jonas Gutierrez – his agent made it all up

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“I am confident we will not lose anybody. All I am thinking of is adding to the squad, not taking away from it.” “I also have to appreciate we have quite a tight squad.”

“What you do is build up a spirit and a team ethic, and we must make sure whoever we add are the right numbers and the right personnel.”

And Hughton dismissed the news in the press that there is some kind of clause in Jonas Gutierrez’ contact that he could leave in January.

This news was created by who else but his agent, Pedro Jimenez Bravo, who was recently quoted in The People as saying:

“We have held meetings with Newcastle, but there is an option for the player to leave, although it must be a good offer.”

Sometimes there is a clause that says if some club comes along with a bid for a certain amount, then  Newcastle would have to accept it – but Hughton has dismissed the whole thing as he said today:

“That is not the case. I am not looking at anybody leaving.”

Agents will say almost anything to draw interest to their player, and it may be that if a big club comes in, then Jonas would be interested – and it certainly seems that Argentine manager Diego Maradona would be happier.

Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and Real Zaragoza are three Spanish clubs who may be interested and Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Everton, may also be interested but it’s obviousd Chris does not want to lose the Argentine.

However, any offer over £6M would be very tempting, because think of the players in different positions that would fund – but we’d need to bring in a couple of wingers.

But January is lining up to be very interesting for Newcastle fans, and Chris wants to ensure the club is at or near the top by then.

And the obvious reason for that is that if we are say 4 points clear at the top of the table come  January 1st, there is a much better chance our targets will want to join the club, as they would see the possibility of playing in the Premiership next season.

Ed gotta love your constant optimisum, how many players have left during his tenure and weve all been saying well we can do this and this with the money? It would never happen players out and very little but loans coming in. Although I do still hope but can never see it happening

……. any offer over £6M would be very tempting, because think of the players in different positions that would fund – but we’d need to bring in a couple of wingers.

But Ed, there appears to be an assumption that fees and wages from outgoing transfers and returned loanees would automatically go toward incomers.

We can only hope that will be the case but nobody’s actually said it will.

Yes, a pessimistic note but we mustn’t lose sight of MA’s aim to make the club’s finances look good to any potential buyer.

i still think he’s our best player… his engine, energy, pace & power force opponents to make mistakes…+ he’s skillful…keep him no matter what…just sell butt, geremi, barton, sign skjalbred and 1 right winger (btw, does anyone know what happend to gronkjaer..he was good…and i think he’s “only” 30)…& i think we’ll be ok =)

i just wish for our manager to stop playing the likes of butt, etc. ffs every manager played them, cos they were too affraid…cos if you lose with those experienced (“best”) players you dont take the blame… we were lucky last weekend, but that was pure luck…which wont last…it’s Newcastle =)

Is someone forgettin that we will be actually losing 3 players come january unless we extend there loans & I for one would prefer we keep Simpson & Kurb but let Deadwood go back to Villa asap!!!
So if we’re bringing in any new players, we need to bring in cover for those who’ll be going out also!!

Yeah Solaidback defo sign Simpson as I doubt we could extend his loan as his contract ends in June. Zurab as cover for Simpson maybe! and CB cover behind Tozer. Harewood has been poor but apart from Monday night I have thought he had been better than Carroll, but Carroll put a bloody good shift in for a change on Monday so yeah let him go with Ameobi coming back soon.

I just pray to god that aside from loan players returning to there teams there are NO OUTGOINGS. But I highly doubt it.

We need to keep Jonas if only for the reason any transfer fee received will go straight into running the club rather than a transfer fund so we’ll be unable to buy any replacements.

better to have someone who can run around like a headless chicken winning free kicks rather than no one at all

I think the hardest player to keep will be enrique as he is becoming more powerful, more pacey and more adventorous.

I can see him going to a average prem club in january, where he will cut out the simple mistakes and improve his decision making and become a top european full back for somebody else!!

But as we paid like 6 million for him (looking to sell on for a profit), somebody would have to fork out at least 6 million which is a plus!

I think we should keep Jonas and anyone in the squad at least until June because at that moment, if we do get promoted, there are numerous good players prefer to join us. So we can sell some players and get others in to match the ideal wage balance. However, it would be huge mistake if we lose anybody on January when we are so in advantage of promotion and the team is much more united than before. Don’t be so shortsighted, MA.
