Brave Peter Lovenkrands Starts Tonight

Peter Lovenkrands, whose father died last Friday, is in the starting line-up tonight for Newcastle’s crucial encounter with WBA.

Lovenkrands partners Shola Ameobi in attack with a midfield four of Danny Guthrie, skipper Alan Smith, top scorer Kevin Nolan and Jonas Gutierrez, and this is probably Newcastle’s strongest side on current form.

His appearance could also provide the inspiration for the Newcastle side to get the all important win tonight, and you have to admire Peter’s courage in wanting to start tonight, and we’re sure a goal from the Dane will bring the house down.

Peter is of course in great form after scoring an excellent hat-trick last time out against Plymouth Argyle.

Danny Simpson returns to the side, for probably his last game in a black and white shirt, at the expense of Ryan Taylor.

Good luck to him and I’m sure he’ll get one hell of a reception.

About our strongest team, maybe Pancrate for Guthrie but our bench has a trick or two with him (Pancrate), Carroll and Ranger.

Good to see you’re back Ed, might be an idea to post a comment as to why if you’re feeling up to it – might stop all the questions too … ?

Anyhow, howay the lads, hard game tonight, need 3 points and then the game in hand should put us well clear of 2nd place.

Im wondering if Ameobi & Lovenkrands can play well together? Neither are going to hound down defenders which could allow West Brom to attack from the back with ease.

Plz Plz Plz anything but Long Ball.

We are being made to look very poor – loosing it in midifeld – no one closing down or even tracking back – long balls out of defence and coming straigt back.

We cant even keep the ball

Defenders playing well, however they shouldn’t have to be; marking is poor and we’re wide open on the counter attacks.

Strolls should have buried that chance late on to give us a HT lead – more effort needed.

Guthrie goal was a gem, keeper had no chance. Need better possession and distribution from midfield.

    Harper 7
    Simpson 6
    Taylor 6
    Coloccini 6
    Enrique 6
    Guthrie 7
    Smith 6
    Nolan 6
    Jonas 7
    Ameobi 6
    Lovenkrands 6

We arent holding the ball up in the final 3rd very well. Ameobi giving away needless freekicks as usual.

    Carroll for Ameobi
Give Lovenkrands another 10-15 then bring Ranger on
