Newcastle Agree Weak Deal With Northern Rock

It seems that banks have stabilized themselves, after almost crushing the world economy with their greed of a couple of years ago.

More proof of that is that  Newcastle have agreed another four year deal of strip sponsorship with Northern Rock, but for a low £ 10M maximum benefit.

The deal is said to be worth that amount, but in today’s market we don’t think that is very much, if we are honest.

But it probably illustrates the steep decline Mike Ashley has overseen at the club over the last 30 months.

We are in the middle of another transfer window where we cannot seem to attract our top targets, this time presumably because we wont pay the wages requested.

Northern Rock, which is based in Newcastle, was taken into public ownership in 2008, after their own collapse, as customers panicked and  tried to withdraw their money.

Northern Rock said the total value of the contract would vary, worth between £1.5m and £10m, so £10M is the tops.

That compares to last summer when Manchester United announced a new shirt deal for four years with AIG, worth £80M.  Ours is worth one eighth that amount – not good – even when you compare the huge gap that exists between the two clubs today.

And the £10M  would only be possible if Newcastle play in the Premier League for the next four seasons.

Northern Rock’s chief executive Gary Hoffman defended the decision to renew the sponsorship deal despite the company being owned by the government.

“Brand awareness and promotion are important elements in the continuing development of the company,”

“We remain mindful of our responsibilities under Government ownership and only consider those advertising and promotion channels that deliver a high return on investment and good strategic fit. “

Newcastle United’s Managing Director Derek Llambias indicated that he thought the deal would help the club achieve its sole goal this season of a return to the Premiership.

we’re nailed on to become a yo-yo club over the next few years – so that £10mil is way out of our reach.

get out of our club you FCB

i can see wba playing us off the park tonight and with that alan smith doing his usual leg breaking tackle & red carded – this could be the where the rot sets in for the rest of the season with us clinging on to a play off place at best.

i can picture CH gibbering like my pet bulldog at the press conference after tonights game.

I honestly believe we would have more credibility if we were running round with Tampax on the strip! Seems all our club is capable of these days is stuffing a fat c**t!
Is there any way I can refuse to pay my tax until this sponsorship is scrapped?

I can see us playing them off the park tonight.
The boys are going to be really up for this one.
    Howay the Lads.

    The shirt deal is poor.
Surprised it’s not better for Ashley to have Sports Direct on the shirts.
Not that I’m buying any NUFC products until the FCB is kicked out of toon 🙂

Another disappointing transfer window so far 🙁

alreet batty,I will be at the match as always……..I just don’t understand people saying we’re gonna lose before a ball is even kicked(RoyC)!!! there’s no doubt it’ll be tough but we’re unbeaten at home and last time I looked top of the league, doesn’t that give us a chance of winning??….oh and roy, smith’s sending off was near the end of the cardiff game when we were 1 up and the player would have been thru on goal…would you rather the tackle wasn’t made??

thanks for that richie – now where have i put in my posts that i’ll be going tonight eh ? , have another gander and you’ll see you’ve jumped the gun assuming it ! – now if i didn’t live in manchester & wasn’t working in the cafe until 8 bells i would seriously consider jumping into my morris traveller & taking the game in.

now again richie where have i stated that newcastle are gonna lose tonight ? , i suggest you scroll back up and have yet another butcher’s & once again it will confirm that your just assuming things – dont try and put 2 & 2 together because people like you normally come up with 6

sorry richie boy – but along with smithy you’ve been red carded you sad little shyster

roy cropper, you said they’d play us off the park….which I agree doesnt mean we’ll be beat but with the “rot sets in”…that can only mean defeat..so stop back tracking you pathetic idiot……I notice you didn’t comment again on smiths usual leg breaking tackle and red card…name all the players who’s legs he’s broken with those tackles???…..stuck? I suggest you know what you’re talking about before you comment
