The Evening Chronicle is reporting late this afternoon that Newcastle are understood to have made a bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder James Perch.
James Perch – Newcastle have lodged a bid for the midfielder
The 24-year-old, who stands 5’11” tall and was born in Mansfield, can play in defense or midfield and has played over 175 times for Forest and scored 11 goals.
Perch is well known to Newcastle assistant manager Colin Calderwood, who took Nottingham Forest to promotion to the Championship in 2008, and Colin is said to be a huge admirer of the player.
Perch has only recently made a comeback from a stress fracture of his shin, that has kept him out of action, but why would Forest sell Newcastle one of their better players to their promotion rivals?
The Evening Chronicle is reporting that a bid has indeed been lodged for the player, but we have to say we’d be very surprised if Nottingham Forest accepted it.
Nottingham Forest is the only club James has ever played for, joining them as an 18 year-old back in 2003.
