Newcastle Bid For Nottingham Forest Midfielder

The Evening Chronicle is reporting late this afternoon that Newcastle are understood to have made a bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder James Perch.

James Perch – Newcastle have lodged a bid for the midfielder

The 24-year-old, who stands 5’11” tall and was born in Mansfield, can play in defense or midfield and has played over 175 times for Forest and scored 11 goals.

Perch is well known to Newcastle assistant manager Colin Calderwood, who took Nottingham Forest to promotion to the Championship in 2008, and Colin is said to be a huge admirer of the player.

Perch has only recently made a comeback from a stress fracture of his shin, that has kept him out of action, but why would Forest sell Newcastle one of their better players to their promotion rivals?

The Evening Chronicle is reporting that a bid has indeed been lodged for the player, but we have to say we’d be very surprised if Nottingham Forest accepted it.

Nottingham Forest is the only club James has ever played for, joining them as an 18 year-old back in 2003.

Comments welcome.

Calderwood obviously knows him and seems versatile, add some depth to the squad. Apparently he started up front, moved to right back, can play in goal and plays in midfields. Maybe an alternative to Simpson.

I havent seen him play so dont know how good he is, but im sure if you look below there will be people moaning about it, who have never seen him play.

He’s a good player so why would Forest part with him if they want promotion too? Be good to get though if it was possible. Can’t help suspecting though –how cynical of me — that it’s just another smokescreen by Ashley to try for players that we don’t really stand any chance of landing either through lowball bidding or lack of real will to land them? “Look we tried to get them, but things didn’t work out. It’s a tough market,” says Hughton/ Llambias or words to that effect on February 1 after window is closed.

If we buy any players this month it will not happen untill the end of the transfer window. Mike Ashley loves the transfer deadline day and that were the transfers will happen if any do happen and then when it closes we will get the excuse of we put bids in but they got rejected. if you can remember ashley got all the sky sports news team what were in the north east last jaunary on deadline day got all there breakfast and lunch brought out to them.

    Targets we missed out on
    Jermaine Beckford
    Mattew Killganon
    Sol Campbell
etc , etc ,ect , ect

We have now changed sponsor and from next season will have a black cat on are top that just takes the mick. Since he has taken over he has:
    1. 7 managers at the club
    2. sold are good players such as given,n’zogbia, beye, milner etc
    3. Changed the name of the stadium
4.Changed the sponsor and now have a black cat on are shirts from next season
5.Has not respected the ledgend Sir Bobby Robson by renaming a stand after him
6.Give any of his manages a good amount of cash to get good players in
7.Disrespected another 2 Newcastle United Ledgends in Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer.
    8.Got the club relegated

Good news about Danny Simpson. He’s the best of the 3 supposed targets we had this window.
We definitely need cover at LB if there’s no faith in our reserve lads. No cover for Enrique at the moment.
As for Perch, he might be a decent signing but why am I suspicious that our so-called ‘scouting network’ (post Wise and Vetere) now consists of Hughton asking Calderwood – “Know anybody decent from your old gaff?”

With FCB’s record in the transfer windows, since he took over, Simpson is probably all we will sign.

Dont be suprised if he moves a few out though – he might need some cash to cover his easter holiday bash!!!

    Sky transfer speculation…..

.08 Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has suggested Jermaine Beckford has agreed a deal to join Everton at the end of the season, while there are reports that the League One leaders have agreed a deal to sign Southend United striker Lee Barnard.

So much for Beckford’a his desire to join us!

7.26 Nottingham Forest have rejected an offer from Championship rivals Newcastle United for James Perch.

Why not? 75p is hardly a realistic figure for an unknown, or is it?

7.10 understands that Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign Danny Simpson from Manchester United on a permanent basis.

If we’re still looking for a striker, then surely Harewood’s tried and tested and an obvous short-term choice to score a few alongside Lovenkrands??

Why do people keep banging on about black cats being unlucky?

For a start, to “own” a black cat is considered to be lucky, not unlucky.

If you see a black cat that’s not your own, thats considered unlucky – but seeing as we’ll “own” the cat on our shirt, it should be good luck…

If you actually SERIOUSLY believe in all that twoddle…

    Honestly…some people.

Seems Beckford has ‘agreed’ a move to Everton – according to Teamtalk….

So that’s why he didn’t come to us then.
