It appears that Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has not given up hope of signing Nottingham Forest midfielder James Perch.
James Perch – Hughton still interested
Newcastle were reported to have lodged an initial bid for the 24-year-old earlier this week, but that seemed to have been turned down flat by Nottingham Forest and manager Billy Davies called the bid derisory.
We’d be very surprised if Forest agreed to let one of their better players move to promotion rivals Newcastle, since they shouldn’t be in the business of strengthening their competitors this January – but you never know.
It looks like Hughton still has hopes of landing the 5’11” player, and we have to believe Newcastle have made an improved offer for the versatile midfielder.
The Newcastle manager told Sky Sports News this afternoon:
“The situation with that is the club have made an official offer for him,”
“It was done through the correct channels and we will see what happens.”
We will indeed have to see what happens on this one, but we are not holding our breath.
