Hughton And Williamson Talk As If Mike Has Joined Newcastle

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle has an interview this afternoon with Mike Williamson – has he signed for the club?    The lad certainly talks like he has.

Mike Williamson – talks to the Evening Chronicle

In fact the Chronicle states that “Newcastle new boy Williamson is itching for his debut. Newcastle United new boy Mike Williamson is ready for the biggest game of his career. “

We checked Sky Sports, and the official Newcastle United web-site, and there’s nothing there about the club signing Mike.

But they say that his move is expected to be completed before the Crystal Palace game this evening, and they think Mike may even start the game.

That will be two potential debuts for Williamson and newly signed Wayne Routledge from QPR, if that’s the case.

Mike said today:

“This is a dream move for me, and I can’t wait to make my debut at St James’s Park,”

“The fans here are incredible, and now I just want to go out and do my best for them.”

“It’s a great move for me, and I just want to get on with the challenge of promotion.”

The Evening Chronicle is reporting that Williamson is expected to start in the center of defence alongside Fabricio Coloccini, but only if the paperwork on his move is completed in time.

We assume he’s been training with the lads since last Friday, when he first arrived on Tyneside.

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton said:

“I’ve spoken to Mike, and he’s delighted to be here. He’s desperate to make his debut tonight, and hopefully the deal is finalised by then.”

Well if we don’t sign him now this will certainly be bizarre.

Comments welcome.

Hope he’s there tonight playing, he has been training with the squad all week.

On a seperate note, has anyone read this article:
    http://www.newcastleunited-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/im_sorry_but__do_we_need_another_winger_487953/index.shtml

Good job they dont have a comments section as they would get hammered!!

Of course we need a winger, Pancrate is rubbish, Jonas is working well with Enrique on the left and Lovenkrands is a striker. Guthrie might have been a winger at on time in his career but not now.

Newcastlemad are a bunch of ‘tards!

He didnt think it was a dream move when he chose pompey in the summer.

Wont be confident until he is in a toon training top on nufc.co.uk, anything can happen with these owners.

One day can be losing targets left right and centre, and then yesterday suddenly spring a good signing out of nowhere.

It’s an emergency loan at the moment. Until Pompey can pay off Watford.

How does it matter if pompey have paid off Watford. Hes not exactly colerteral on the deal and not gonna ask for him back if they cant pay. They sold Muntari when they still owe money to Udinese.

Whole thing is just pompey trying to squeeze more money out if you ask me.

Yeah, he’s on emergency loan so we might be seeing him tonight.

My main problem with NewcastleMad is the bloody layout. I know black and white and all that, but it’s so damn offensive. At least use a larger font or a light grey. For that reason I’ll never read the site, bloody awful.

Yes, he has signed for the club. They are just waiting for some paperwork regarding the Watford / Portsmouth sell-on clause to be rubber stamped before making a formal announcement.

Totally agree. While the right wing wasn’t really a priority, because we have players who can play there Routledge is better. If it was at the cost of getting FB, CB and striker then a different mater. But we’ve signed a FB and look to have a CB and seem to be still trying to get a striker. Its a nice bonus.

I’m not used to this – there’s still 5 whole days to go before the end of he window and we have 3 completed transfers in. With the two who weren’t already on loan at the club being brought in in time to train with the squad ahead of a league game and the paperwork all done to give the manager the option to play them if he wants…..

This feels like… well like… good policy.

Whats happened to the feckless idiots that run this football club!

I’d have Guthrie in over Nolan for tonight. Not been impressed with Kev recently, he seems to have dropped his work rate after his good first half of the season.

Danny offers more creativity than any other of our players too. I like him a lot as a CM or RM.

So Williamson & Routledge have signed and are in the squad tonight let’s hope we get a decent forward (loan) & a creative midfield player (loan) I think we will then have a squad that will get us promoted. Then the we will really see if fat tw*t is up for it during the summer. 1st things 1st though 3 points tonight.

    From the bottom…..

Moses is highly likely to end up at Arsenal and as far as the way this window’s been managed, i n c r e d i b l e and so it appears that we can actually manage to look professional!

Well done to all concerned and in the hope of us signing a striker before Sunday night……… Howaaaayyyyyyy the laaaaaaadas!

Palace are certainly “up the creak”.

I’d be surprised if we see more permanent signings especially with Barton nearly back. Probably 2 loan signings to come, another defender (LB cover mainly) and striker.

    —————–Carroll—–Lovenkrands———

Im looking forward to Routledge playing some part and us actually having an attack thats not down the left!

Expect another incoming if Taylor’s out for a while, probably why we’re being linked with the likes of sonko. NUFC keeping the extent of the injury quiet so we don’t get held to randsom for a replacement.

Palace have TWO subs for tonight?? ahahahaha eee its not funny really!!! MUCH

as for tonight id go for

    ————————Harper

    Coloccini–Williamson—Kadar—Enrique

    Routledge—-Smith(C)—Guthrie—Jonas

    ————–Carroll——Lovenkrands

subs- Krul, Tozer, Butt, Nolan, Pancrap, Ranger, Donaldson

Id start Colo at right back because he has played there before at Deportivo and Argentina and id start with Guthrie instead of Nolan. Game has passed Nolan by recently, maybe he needs a rest!!

Yea right Routledge , he’s certainly set the world alight so far !!
As for Williamson – a brief history – began career with Torquay Utd , joined Southampton but couldn’t get into the side . Loaned to Doncaster in 2004 , left without making a single appearance before joining Wycombe Wanderers in a further loan deal . Signed permanently for Wycombe on a free transfer , and remained there until joining Watford in Jan 2009 transfer window . Not many players can be Loaned out to Southampton and Donny rovers and not get a single game , before moving to Pompey where he hasn’t played a game either . The lad’s got class written all over him !!!

lol its funny how everyones falling short of praising MIKE ASHLEY on the running of the club lately-so il do it! -things are looking up in that department mike- well done!-mistakes have been made and your proving now that your trying to make amends-i just want everyone to pull in the same direction and get this promotion charge back on course! isnt it about time the fcb chants were quelled at least at matches? hes holdiing the purse strings after all-many an owner has made bad mistakes-but u have to admire his business stamina and determination- sticking around whilst nearly being headhunted-u have to admit the way clubs’ debts are going-the arsenal model he was trying to follow seems like the exact way to go! even if we are still hopeless lol-now-when is” wise ( ive the eye) for young talent” comin back hahaha

@thud and blunder – that’s a nice squad u have there. Although it has been a while since i watch nufc play but i’ll prefer guthrie than nolan as creative midfielder.
CH can also try playing the two 2gether in the future.
