Boys Have Made Me Very Welcome – Williamson

The 26-year-old Mike Williamson gave a commanding performance last night alongside Argentine International Fabricio Coloccini.

Mike Williamson – great display last night

49% of our vote have Mike the man of the match last night, and Mike himself was delighted with his debut as he talked to the Evening Chronicle today:

“It was a great start,” “The main objective was three points, but we also got a clean sheet, and you can’t ask for more really on your debut.”

“The boys have made me feel really welcome coming up here, and it’s just a case of getting a few touches and feeling comfortable, but I’m playing with good players, so it’s not difficult.”

Williamson has had to wait since last Friday for Newcastle, Portsmouth and Watford to work out his move, but he’s shown great patience, and his performance last night was an eye-opener for Newcastle fans.

Now Mike is looking forward to Saturday’s visit to Leicester City.

“It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m glad to be finally here, and I’m going to enjoy it now,”

The 2-0 final score-line does not represent just how close this game was, but the second goal by Nile Ranger on 93 minutes, was a welcome addition and moved our goal difference up to a positive 27.

In the Championship we now have most points, most wins, the least number of goals conceded, and the best goal difference.

But those figures only mean anything at the end of the season, of course.
