Sky Sports is reporting that both Stoke City and Newcastle are looking at signing Norwegian star Erik Huseklepp.
Erik Huseklepp – longer term target of Newcastle
This is not the first time that Newcastle have been interested in the player, and we reported last August he was then a target for the club.
The 6’2″ player, who is currently at Brann, can play right wing or striker.
It remains to be seen if the club sign Moses, whether this would be overkill, but apparently not if the lad is brought in as a striker.
Huseklepp has so far played 8 times for Norway, and appeared over 80 times for Brann with 18 goals.

Comment #2Its good to see The Toon cast their net wide in case the Moses deal falls through, it may be overkill but you never know what might happen to our front line on top of the fact that he can also play as an attacking midfielder.

Comment #3Moses now wants to top four move. Highly unlikely that we will get him now.

Comment #10Whoops, double post. Thanks captcha.
@lesh: You’re right, it could. imo we should break his leg, give him a mohawk and call him Skjelbred anyway.

Comment #11Huseklepp is shite. Sure, he has his moments, but no way I would want him to Newcastle. I’m from Norway, so i know quite a bit about the “Tippeliga” and their players. The league is shite so to be something more than average you really need to stick out. As i said, he has his moments with some good goals, but all in all in a season he is not good enough.

He had the most assists(13) and came fourth on the topscorer- chart with 15 goals. He was awesome last season, and to see how much he has developed since the 08- season shows that Erik is still learning. If we were to buy one player from Norway he would get my vote.
