News tonight from the Evening Chronicle that Geremi has finally left Newcastle.
Geremi – has left Newcastle
The Cameroon international has completed a move to Turkish side, Ankaragucu, after a deal was agreed with Newcastle.
Geremi was given the number 75 shirt at Ankaragucu, and met with the Turkish media, just like he did at the beginning of this month, when the Turkish club said they had a deal, when they hadn’t.
This time the move has been agreed with Newcastle.
Chris Hughton told the Evening Chronicle:
“We did not want to get rid of anybody but it was different with Geremi as he has not appeared in too many games and he has a World Cup coming up.”
It makes no sense to be paying Geremi £60K/week, when he cannot make the starting eleven in England’s second division, so this is a good deal for both the club and the player.
Geremi joined Newcastle in the summer of 2007, on a free transfer from Chelsea.
With just 17 hours to go before the transfer window slams shut, at the time of writing, we’ll have to wait and see if we bring any other players into the squad.
But there’s little doubt the club has had a good transfer window this time around.
It’s just a pity the team had a bad night last night – but it’s just one single game, after all..
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Good he left, he just sat there getting money every week for nothing. Clear the wage bill even more. Hope we sign another player before transfer market closes, perhaps Per Ciljan Skjelbred, Erik Huskelupp, or Michael Johnson.

We have been linked with him for sometime now.
Also on the article it says we are also looking at Carlos Vela of Arsenal and James Vaughn of EVerton.

Comment #5Good news that Geremi has gone and off the payroll.
As to the Daily Mail rumours which should be taken with a large pinch of salt:
Daniel Cousin – not really excited, although he has one thing in his favour, he canna stick Mr permatan mackem Brown either.
James Vaughan – worried as he seems to be very injury prone.
Carlos Vela – I wish.
Unortunately, I do not think anymore permanent signings will come in now, especially after the BBC programme. Ashley is probably sulking / plotting revenge in Bucks as we speak.

Comment #8Obviously we all want to see the club promoted. But if there was a choice, I’d rather we went up with the makings of a decent Prem side, a new owner, some reasonable investment, a manager we have confidence in, even if that meant an extra year supping fizzy pop, than to go up in August only to fall back down in April 2011. I don’t want to go through that again.

Comment #10Just watched inside out….there were some muppets talking about the footballing side of things that talked bollocks….
but shame its only for the North East as the program will be damaging to the business. Either effect the demand for mike ashleys goods or will cost him alot to imrpove conditions.
Anyone who has ever been into one of his stores wouldnt be surprised, stuff is just thrown and stacked anywhere.
Also getting Whelan on the program was stupid. We all no he has a grudge because Ashley testified against JJB and Man Utd price fixing, but the program does show what a fat bastard ashley is.

Comment #13So basically his wage covers every single one of the signings we made over the summer. Another good bit of business for Ashleys wallet and for once us as well.

Comment #14If Cousins comes, then surely he’ll be a loan as he doesnt fit the age / sell on ability ashley likes.
Cant pretend to have see a lot of Cousins, mainly due to him playing for a poor team and the fact he doesnt always get a game for that poor team.
Sounds great already.
Hope we go with Vaughan, however with his injury record and our ability to ruin most players its a partnership made in physio heaven!
So we’re after a player whos 26 or under, can play at the highest level, has a good injury record and will cost no more than 2 million !
Good luck!

Comment #15After seeing the documentery last night on Ashley’s business its clear he has taken that same blue print and has adapted it for Newcastle United:
Bring in young men, on very low wages and knock out cheap imitation wanna-be goods, in trying to compete with the big named brands!

Comment #19We think that the news that Leon Best is signing for Newcastle today is very disappointing. We think Chris is signing too many Championship standard players to the famous Tyneside football club.
We also think that Leon Best will be lucky to score 3 goals in the Premier League should we get there

Comment #20Think the Best deal is a good one. He is a very good championship striker with more goals this season than any of our strikers in a poor coventry side, will have picked him up pretty cheap because he is on the last 6months of his contract and has a good sell on value to a championship side if he can’t make the step up in the PL.

Comment #21Had a good start this season, but Best scored a whopping total of 2, yes 2 league goals last season!
Career total about 1 goal in every 4 games!
So another physical, strong and not too deadly striker to compliment the strikers we already have, thats the physical, strong and not too deadly strikers we already have!
Hey at least CH is consistant………so Taylor has the ball, he plays the ‘longball’ up to Carroll who flicks it on to Best, who shoots and …….so the game ends nil – nil.
