Patrick van Aanholt Makes Fine Newcastle Debut

One of the few pleasant things in yesterday’s game for Newcastle fans, was the fine performance of new boy Patrick van Aanholt, on loan from Chelsea for a month.

Patrick van Anholt – excellent debut

After a shaky first 10 minutes Patrick became more and more comfortable, and this lad looks like a star player in the making.

You have to remember Patrick only heard about Newcastle’s interest late Thursday night, and came up to Newcastle early Friday morning.

And manager Hughton rightly paid tribute to the debut performance of the 19 year-old, who looked a great player in the making yesterday.

Hey, maybe we can get this boy on a season long loan in August.

Chris said today:

“He certainly got better as the game went on, and he is a young lad who will get even better with experience,”

“He’s not had much training with us and was thrown in at the deep end and did very well.”

It seems that Patrick will fill in well for Enrique, and both players seem best going forward.

The two excellent shots Patrick had on goal yesterday, suggests he could actually score for Newcastle in these next 4 weeks.

Somebody has to!

Finally, we thought we had put the poll up last night for Newcastle’s best player, but it looks like in our misery we didn’t.

The poll is now up on the home page, so please register your vote for Newcastle’s best player yesterday.

I hope we get him for the rest of the season when his initial loan period runs out. We’ve needed another left back for almost two seasons!!!

He did look uneasy to begin with and yes he got better as the game went on only our team got worse, poor lad wonder what he’s thinking about his new team mates today.

Keep him for longer, we’ll be lucky, rest of the team need a kick up the backside.

All 3 new guys did well imo, compared to our “prem standard” players anyway.
