Will Newcastle Bid For Darren Ambrose?

Many fans were more than impressed by former player Darren Ambrose on Wednesday night.

Darren Ambrose – could be a savvy signing for Newcastle

Darren was signed by Bobby Robosn for Newcastle, from his old club Ipswich Town, in 2003 and was sold by Graeme Souness to Charlton a couple of years later.

But Darren was a decent player, as his 10 caps at England U21 level shows, and since leaving Newcastle Ambrose has played a lot of games, mostly in the lower divisions.

But he may be the type of creative player Newcastle desperately need to sign this month, or else we’ll have to suffer through a lot more game like yesterday’s.

And with Crystal Palace now in administration, a reasonable offer of say £1M could hardly be turned down by the administrators.

Darren is still only 25 and the 6′ tall player appeared around 56 times for Newcastle and scored 6 goals.

Since leaving Newcastle Darren played 125 times for Charlton with 16 goals, 9 times on loan at Ipswich his first club, and currently 31 times at Crystal Palace but with an impressive 14 goals.

Darren moved to Crystal Palace on a free transfer last year, which is even more reason why Palace administrators would snap up a decent bid for the player.

In his still short career the lad has 215 first class appearances with 37 goals.

Do you think Darren would be a good acquisition right now?

This will not happen. He would be a good signing but i think our transfer window is over for now even though we are well short of creativity, a threat in front of goal and width.

I think he would be another we certainly could use in our effort to get to the Premiership.

A creative midfielder who can operate out wide or centrally, more importantly he has shown he is a class above at this level and brings another scoring threat to us.

If we were to get this signing, which I doubt would happen, it would show our intent. A measly 800,000 pounds would do it and that would be a snip for a player of his ability in this division.

Too many of our fans remember his time here but since then he has shown maturity and in all fairness to the lad, he wasn’t given much of a chance under Souness.

Anyone remember his cracker of a goal against Man United at Old Trafford, only to see Wayne Rooney deliver a better one moments later?

I would have no hesitation in taking Darren Ambrose.

So funny when you think we sold what his name to barnsley for a couple of mill. It seems that as soon as you are in the premier league your minimum worth is 2 mill ie branble so getting Moses and darren in could finalise the ultimate transfer window

Why not put in a bid of 4 million pounds for both? No doubt that will get it done.

    Can’t see it happening though.

I cannot believe Ashley is unwilling to stump up another Million for Moses its unbelievable. Anyway i’ve had enough of hearing about Moses we should move on to another before this window slams shut. Alot of people say Skeljbred but i have never seen this kid play. If Ashley wants up and coming then he should put his fat fingers in his pocket and get Sean Geddes from Walsal but for a more experienced player we should go for the likes of Ambrose and we surely need a striker NOT the Everton lad he is always injured and not a loan either. Fox from Celtic went else where a good opportunity for us to sign a left back gone…nice one fat ash. We are screaming out for some creation and width and someone who can put the ball in the net something Ameobi aint doing as he is far to injury prone. He should of been sold YEARS ago. Ranger is still learning his trade and not quite ready for the pressures of banging goals in left right and centre.

I’m gonna be the first to say it. Sell Carroll for a few mill an put it into moses. Ranger is not as good a finisher but I think he will get better and better and he brings more to the team attacking wise. Carroll is good because he also defends his butt off but I don’t think he is going to make the grade in the premiership. We have too many amoebis and need to start looking for gold.

Here’s a stunner for you. According to the guardian Wigan have stumped up £2m up front and another mil in CLAUSES! Christ, so much for the admins dealing in cold, hard, cash.

Ashley seems to have alot of investigating being carried out on him recently. Hope he enjoys watching the football he’s created here!

If we want a good CCC player then buy Ambrose, if we want a good prem player (to be) then buy Moses.

Souness was a clown and Ambrose was one for the future at that time. He was never given a chance and how many other players have come back to haunt us over the years.

Huseklepp or Skjelbred for me if we have the cash.
This TV program tonight can only help us get rid of Ashley. If they can expose him as the crook that he is and if he loses this court case against him may be he will just do one completly. His company might really struggle after this especially when the crap he sells leaves the factory at an already reduced price. So no one gets a bargin its just what it is, the poorest made clothing made by some of the poorest people in the world, sold at a profit to line that pigs pockets. Our club is being abused my this man to front his distgusting company.

AussieToon – I couldn’t have put it better myself. Another Prodigy from the SBR stable,, so not surprised he has done well. He carries a goal threat unlike any of our current midfielders, with a reasonable chance that would carry to the prem level.

Moses loss is a sickener but there you go. I wouldn’t get too carried away with the reports we have been outbid, the player himself may have had the final word, sounds like we put in the asking price anyways.

Ambrose would make sense as someone who has bossed this league so far,, we need someone who could hit the ground running and he’s defo gonna do that. 25 only and a natural finisher from midfield. GO GET HIM HUGHTON!!!!!!!!

Why can’t Ashley just stump up £2.5m or so and top off a very successful transfer window.!

i wouldnt sign him. he wasnt good enuff in the prem last time and nobody else has opted for him since so why should we. I’m sure we have enough in midfield to get us promoted. Giving players like this contracts will cost us when we do get promoted.

It comes to something when we can’t keep our best players at the club and they move to Wigan …..N’Zogbia. And it also comes to something when we can’t compete with Wigan for Signings. ohh my god how the mighty have fallen. Man City are the lucky ones we are the unlucky ones. If any fans deserve to see top football its the toon fans. We out do the likes of Man city fan wise but everything else we are years behind if we ever catch up at all. We have had some top players recently at our club who would of had us in the right league and at the top end of it in Milner,N’Zogbia,Jenas,Bassong,Bellamy just to name a few. If we still had these players at our club at the same time we would be competing where we belong.

signed on a Sunday? Can’t be finalised ’til tomorrow though, thought that’s was why the window is still opened the 1st Feb.

Anyway, we want players who want to play for Newcastle, if it was Ashleys doing then it was a bad decision(again), good luck to him at Wigan.

    Well there you go.

Now we can hopefully move on with other targets, lets hope there is other targets…..

I think it is a stupid move by the kid, you would have to question the agent, there is no doubt that Premiership football came into play, but I would be quite amused if Wigan went down and we were promoted.

Looks liek we put in an offer of 2 million and Wigan came in for 2.5 million and that’s all she wrote, don’t think we can blame Ashley on this, we were the highest bidder for 24 hours then Wigan came in and his agent got what he wanted, Premiership football.

Oh well, hope the kid fulfills his promise, in front of 19,000 people who are used to watching rugby instead of the beautiful game. He may look on and regret it in the long run.

Two more signings please, Darren Ambrose and a loan deal for James Vaughn would do nicely. I realise Vaughn is injured regularly but he would add another striker with pace and power.

Moses can play left wing or as a second striker, best as a second striker.

I have got my money on mate, it was 16/1 when the market first opened.
And to how i know, my mate is friends with one of the newcastle physios, i didnt say he definately was going there, just they are holding talks after permission was given, which means talks are more advanced with west ham, newcastle havent even talked to the player, just his representatives, he wont move up north.

ashley was never going to pay 2.5million for anyone, and even if he did it would only be as an investment to sell on , the man will never change, im sick of every one saying we have had a good transfer window, left back on a 1 month trial , centre half on a 6 month loan , centre half signed for around 1 million , a right back for about 500 k and a winger for around 1 million, 2.5million net spend, now how much was sold in the summer ? did the fat man not say he was immediattly putting 20 million back in the clubs coffers when he pulled them off the market ? he is doing as little as possible as always .
we could of signed beckford and moses and would of still been in a decent financial posistion and with more chance of going up, if he had just went in with half decent offers in stead of pissing about waiting for another club to get in first, ( which is what he wants,so he can say that he tried ), we are far from sure of going up , forest and west brom are better teams than us , how many games this season have we actually deserved to win ? 5-6 at the most that luck wont last forever, and this window was the chance to take the luck away from it , but once again he has failed to deliver ,
is it just me who is seeing this ?

I know a lot of fans believe the transfer window has been a sucess, albeit the Moses deal has left a sour taste.

    I disagree

We’ve bought Championship players for the PL.

Simpson, has looked very good in the CCC, but failed in numerous attempts with other clubs in the top flight. He performance against Dorrans was shocking and lets be honest their are better wingers than Dorrans in the PL !…….Yes he can improve but currently hes no where near the finished article for a top RB!

Williamson, is a fine leader and header of the ball, but against Fryatt, a player who ran at him, he looked terrified and once again in the top flight players are quicker and deadlier than Mr Fryatt.

Routledge, yes we need pace and creativity and is the one transfer i’m pleased with. But before even i get carried away, he plays in the CCC maybe hes found his level ? Albeit a lot younger he has failed at Villa, Spurs etc!

Hall, not even as good as Williamson!

Van Anholt, is a very good prospect. But clearly too good for us and will be on his way back to Chelsea.

Then theres the striker we so desperately needed, oh which striker?…..the one area we needed to fill with quality and we have all discovered anything more than 2 million is way too much for Ashley.

    Success is all relative…….
