Newcastle Wrap Up Best Signing

The BBC is reporting that Newcastle have completed the signing of striker Leon Best from Coventry City for an undisclosed fee.

Leon Best – new signing for Newcastle

The 23-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year contract, as we reproted earlier today, and will go straight into the squad to face Cardiff at St James’ Park on Friday.

The Ireland international striker has been handed the number 20 shirt.

Best’s contract at Coventry was due to expire in the summer and, even though a fee would have been due as he is under 24, the Sky Blues have cashed in on their player now

Coventry Chairman Ray Ranson said:

“The situation with Leon’s contract has been well documented,””When it was apparent that we couldn’t agree terms for him to remain at Coventry, we knew we would have to listen to offers and act in the best interests of the club.”

Best is now re-united with former Southampton team-mates Fitz Hall and Mike Williamson, as well as Patrick van Aanholt, who was on loan at Coventry earlier this year.

One happy family.

Best? LOL. Worse than Ameobi, Ranger, Carroll and Lovenkrands.

Bad deal, and to think we missed out on Moses to sign him.

have to be honest I haven’t seen this lad play so can’t really judge.

I doubt he’s slower than Andy Carroll if he is an international striker. Come on toongloom I think I could beat Carroll over 100m.

No more… Only other good news was that Beye flatly turned down the Mackems, so they went for Hutton. In terms of Moses, the club didn’t fail, he knocked us back
