As Injuries Clear Up – Let’s Hope Hughton Picks Attacking Side

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has had some good news on the injury front today.

Danny Simpson – fit again

All three players who were slight doubts , Shola Ameobi, Danny Simpson and Jonas Gutierrez  trained with the squad today,  and are fit for the vital league game against Cardiff City tomorrow night.

If Simpson plays, and we expect the lad to start at right back, it will be his first appearance since signing his three and a half year contract in January,

Ameobi has been missing since injuring his shoulder at West Brom almost two weeks ago, and Argentine Gutierrez was not risked at Leicester City after suffering a slight muscle strain.

The Newcastle manager Chris Hughton told Newcastle United TV today:

“We still have a couple of knocks and bruises here and there, but the good news is that Danny, Shola and Jonas are all fit,”

“It’s been a busy period and it will continue to be like that between now and the end of the season.”

“So I’m delighted to have the three lads back and it gives me more options with regards my starting eleven.”

Let’s hope Chris picks an attacking side for tomorrow night.

Our initiasl thoughts are that he could do worse than field the following side:

Harper
Simpson Williamson Coloccini van Aanholt
Routledge Smith Guthrie Gutierrez
Best
Lovenkrands

That seems a very decent team – and the fans will get their first look of Leon Best.

In fact five of the six players we signed in January will start if that team is selected, with only Fitz Hall missing out.

But we wonder when Hall will get a game unless one of the central defenders is injured?

Let’s know what team you would like to start tomorrow night.

Comments are always welcome.

Ed i would agree with you as well but i think Hughton will go for…

    _________Harper_________

    Simpson__Colo_Will__Aanholt

    Rout___Nolan_Smith___Jonas

    _______Best_Carroll______

Subs: Krul, Kadar, R.Taylor, Guthrie, Loven, Ranger, Ameobi

Which still isn’t a bad team to be fair.

Same line up I was thinking, ed. Time for Nolan to have a rest imo and it’s be nice to see Guthrie through the middle for a change rather than trying to be a winger

What do you mean? Who cares about Fitz Hall. Only brought into be backup (i hope) when injuries starting to pile up.

I agree with the team, though, Ed.

    Simpson-Colo – Willo -Aanholt
    —Guthrie-Smith-Nolan——-
    ———-Routledge————-
    ——-Best—-Carroll———-

Thats giving Routledge free role across behind the striker would be intrested to see how it works out. Or maybe Routledge LM Guthrie RM.

Would like to see Hall come on as well and maybe Ranger and Best later on in the match!!

im predicting 3-1 to newcastle with chops scoring as well. Best Nolan Smith!! Toon Goalscorers

I cant see Best starting :

    Harper
    Simpson Williamson Colo VA
    Routledge Smith Nolan Jonas
    Carroll Lovenkrands.

Thats probabley our strongest line up,possibley Shola instead of Carroll,if he can find his early season form!

The bench will look strong though:
Krul, Taylor, Hall, Guthrie, Ranger, Shola, Best.

i think that as long as nolan is on the bench and guthrie starts in the middle, but i would like to see best with lovenkrands however when shola is fit CH always starts with him! but with routledge and jonas playing at least we have some pace, and players who can beat someone, hope smith has a good game he needs one

    Harper
    Simpson Will Colo VA
    Routledge Smith Nolan Jonas
    Loven Ameobi

This team gives us so many options

wingers who can beat a man
    fullbacks who can get forward
    balls in behind to loven
    balls short in to ameobi
Nolan to pop up and get a goal

Im also thinking Aanholt and Colo will have to be on top of there games to keep chopra quiet
