We’ll See What Newcastle Are Made Of Tonight

Chris Hughton takes his side into a crucial league game tonight against Cardiff City.

Chris Hughton – mental toughness will do it

But Chris has done well in the recently closed transfer window to bring in six new players – four of which were signed and look bargain buys as far as we can see. It was a pleasant surprise to us and to most Newcastle fans.

We’re not used to the club getting the job done since Mike Ashley came in, and weren’t used to it before that either!  😀

Newcastle has now the strongest squad in the Championship right now, and since we are already top of the league,  we should be able to get promotion this year – but hey, this is Newcastle.

And you never know with the Tyneside club – we should never have been relegated with the squad we had last season – but we were.

And there’s no doubt mental toughness is what will get the lads promoted this year – so we’ll see if they’ve got enough of that – starting tonight.

Chris Hughton said today:

“I do believe we can handle the pressure and that can only be based on what I see here,”   “We’re in a position we’ve not experienced before in this league.”

“There’s pressure at the top and it’s something we’ve had to cope with each week for the whole season.”

“There’s no doubt Newcastle going anywhere is arguably the biggest draw in this division.”   “I can only say from what I see that we’re able to cope with that.”

“I feel that because of the way we’ve handled the season so far, going to tough places and getting results. We’re still top with a game in hand of both Forest and West Brom.”

“The same characteristics of what’s got us so far are the same ones we’re going to need to maintain it.”

There are rumors that Jonas Gutierrez will miss out tonight with injury – id that’s true it’s a pity because it probably means Chris will play a central midfielder on one of the wings – and that has never worked – not so far anyway.

In the past Newcastle United teams have had the talent but have lacked the bottle.

This current team may not have the talent of former teams, but we certainly have leaders in Nolan, Smith and Williamson . I hope they can rally the others.

Bit of a blow if we are without Jonas again.

    My team would be:

    ————————- Harps

    – Simpson – Collo – Williamsson – Van Aanholt

    — Routlege – Smudge – Nolan – McLoven

    ——————— Best – Caroll

    Krul, Hall, RTaylor, Guthrie, Ranger

Chris Hughton’s dead right when he said

…..“I feel that because of the way we’ve handled the season so far, going to tough places and getting results. We’re still top with a game in hand of both Forest and West Brom.”….

However, he really shouldn’t even be thinking about the cushion of the game in hand over WBA and Notts Forest.

For all Cardiff, like WBA are prolific scorers and we have a very tight defence, that defence has proved vulnerable, especially at centre/ left. Thankfully, he’s got an addition of another left back and that may prove a godsend in giving us some width going forward without leaving gaping hole at LB.

All we need then is to play someone wide right (Lua-Lua or Routlege?) and field two up front in the form of Best and Carrol or Shola to pop in the supply.

Referring to Keegan’s mantra of scoring more than the opposition, then caution must go to the wind and atttack as though there’s no tomorrow.

A real 6 pointer which we’ve got to go for… with a vengence!

CH has to play 4-4-2 and with lovenkrands upfront!!

    Simpson Williamson Collo Van Anholt

    Routledge Guthrie Smith Guitteraz

    Lovenkrands Carroll/Best

There is not point in playing carroll and best both upfront, cause they got no pace!!

    3 things….

    1. Jonas is not fit
    2. Why drop Nolan?
    3. Best is meant to be pretty nippy
