Chris Hughton has come out today and seems to have defended his attacking formation at Derby County on Tuesday night.
Newcastle’s top two – Hughton and Calderwood
Chris Hughton said today:
“You have to evaluate every game but I wanted to go that way, probably based on the fact we didn’t get a win at Leicester,”
“We got a very good result against Cardiff and my thoughts were to go the same. The feeling you can get from a home game is harder to replicate away.”
“All of that I was aware of and felt it was the best line-up to go with.”
Fabricio Coloccini and Ryan Taylor are back from injury for today’s game, and we expect Fabricio to start in central defense, but expect Danny Simpson to continue at right back, if he is fit.
We do expect 5 players in midfield, with perhaps only Andy Carroll up front.
We’ll get some idea today of just how good Newcastle really are, after today’s early KO in South Wales.
It’s true we have dropped too many points these last 8 weeks, but we’re still in a more than decent position in the Championship.
A few good wins could well see us create a gap again at the top of the league – we hope so anyway.
