Alan Smith Expects Two Home Wins This Week

Newcastle captain Alan Smith seems confident that Newcastle can hold their position at the top of the league by winning their two home games in the next 5 days.

Alan Smith – we can win our next two games

Alan believes Newcastle can win both games against Coventry City tomorrow night, and then Preston on Saturday afternoon.

This is what Alan told the Newcastle official site today:

“We should win both games,” “No disrespect to Coventry or Preston but our home form is very good and we are unbeaten there this season.”

“It’s a great chance to get back to winning ways and that is what we aim to do. “We’ve shown how hard a place St. James’ is to come and every time we go out there we feel like we’re going to win.”

“We wanted to make it a fortress at the start of the season and that is what we’ve done thanks as well to the help of the fans who have been incredible.”

Smith is well aware that Newcastle cannot keep playing like they did last Saturday and expect to gain an automatic promotion place – it just will not be good enough.

Alan has admitted the obvious – it wasn’t a good performance from the lads:

“It wasn’t a good performance.” “It was way short of what we are capable of but it was important that we got something.””We know as players it wasn’t good enough but we still managed to get that draw.”

“It’s about getting a reaction now and we can’t wait for Wednesday’s game.”

Newcastle fans hope there is a reaction and that it’s a good reaction.

We think the first 30 minutes tomorrow night will be important, because that’s when Newcastle will be attacking and hoping for a break-through.

An early goal will be a big help tomorrow night.

Howay The Lads!!

agree with smith on this one. we should win both. it would be a great way to get back on track after recent results. however as usual cup final mentality for cov and preston when they visit sjp.
