Keep Playing Nile Ranger This Season

It seems that we may be getting down to a few fit strikers for Saturday’s game at Watford.

Nile Ranger – keep give the lad some run-outs
With Shola Ameobi still out injured with his hamstring problems, and Peter Lovenkrands very doubtful, the striking duties will need to be shared between Carroll, Best and young Nile Ranger on Saturday.

Although Kevin Nolan may be played as a withdrawn striker at Watford in a 4-5-1 away formation.

Andy Carroll has had a lot of playing time recently and Hughton admitted he thought about taking Carroll off against Preston, since Andy seemed to be tired late on in that game.

Hughton continued:

“Andy was a bit leggy towards the end and we considered taking him off.”

“We have strikers here who are applying pressure on each other.”

“Andy has done well, but we will see where we are later in the week regarding injuries.”

We’d like to see Nile Ranger get a run out in the second half at Watford.

The lad is a budding star and needs to get some playing time during the next 14 games, and what better time than when two of  the strike force are out injured?

Thought that after he bagged a well taken goal against Palace he would get more chances in the coming weeks which didn’t happen which disappointed me. I think Hughton feels under pressure to play Best after the whole striker saga over xmas and he hasn’t showen a whole lot infront of goal. As far as i’m concerned Ranger is a better all round striker than Best.

I agree that Best will get the starting nod, but I also have a feeling that Ranger may be what’s needed away from home. His youth means he’s less pre-programmed to fail in away games, and I just think he may prove more inventive up front than the older players.

But let’s not forget that against decent defence he has reminded us that he is only a teenager. Supersub is the way to go with him for now.

Hope we can see ranger playing against watford,he is great lad who needs more first team action now, to pull some goals in the premier league,no doubt he’s a rising superstar.

I would start Ranger and give Carroll a bit of a rest on the bench. He will be sitting there and available if needs be. Apart from that we give Ranger some more experience in the first team. Play him at Watford and see if he can put something through their “gap”!

For the watford game I hope:

    Simpson—Collo—Williamson—Van man

However, I think it may be:

    Simpson—Collo—Williamson—Van man

Either would be decent, so long as Butt is nowhere near the 1st team and guthrie isnt plonked out on the wing. It we had a full-stength squad i’d prefer:

Subs: krul, Simpson, kadar, R.Taylor, Smith, Pancrate, Ameobi.

That leaves Forster, Tozer, Inman, Vuckic, Donaldson, Lua Lua and Ranger pushing for the first team.

However, I’m not 100% confident in S.Taylor at RB as I am not a fan of playing players out of position to fit them into the starting XI – but if he is competent out there then he would be fine, its not the same as putting guthrie at RM.

Also, I hope Collo getting to play in the WC, will be quite gutting for him to see Jonas go but he gets left behind. However that might be a catalyist to motivate him to play well for us. hmm.

Having watched Preston game Carroll and Best did not link up well while Ranger at least looks exciting so give him a go.
