Kevin Nolan has given a few interviews today and he talks about a range of things from scoring goals to his team-mate Fabricio Coloccini.
Kevin Nolan – goals and Coloccini
Nolan is still Newcastle’s top goalscorer with 12 goals this season, but Andy Carroll moved up to 11 with his goal in the second half at Watford on Saturday.
And Danish International Peter Lovenkrands has now ten goals for the season with 8 of those coming this year.
Kevin talked about scoring goals:
“We have not had any bets on who will finish as top goalscorer.”
“I am happy with the 12 I have got. If I can chip in between now and the end of the season, fine. I think I have said it all during the season.”
“If I can keep chipping away and getting a few goals here and there and help us get them wins, I am delighted.”
“If I do not score between now and the end of the season and we win this league and get promotion, I will not be too concerned.”
And Kevin Nolan has also talked today about the criticism leveled at Argentine Coloccini last season, and he thinks that was unfair:
“He came in and I thought he did all right,” “He wasn’t the worst player but he got pinned down for a lot of criticism, which wasn’t deserved.”
“A lot of people thought he would be the first out – and this league is tough.”
“You get some centre-halves who like to throw you about, he’s a bit more than that. He should be in Argentina’s World Cup squad.”
Newcastle were given the day off yesterday, a reward for their endeavors on Saturday, but they’ll be back at the Benton training headquarters today getting ready for Barnsley on Saturday afternoon at St. James’ Park.
