Smith Injured – Pancrate and Enrique Both Start

Alan Smith will miss this afternoon’s game against Barnsley.

Alan apparently has picked up an injury in training and misses out this afternoon, and it looks like Danny Guthrie will play in central midfield, because Chris Hughton has brought in Fabrice Pancrate to play out on the right wing.

The Frenchman has his first start since the 2-2 draw at Barnsley, surprisingly enough, back in December at Oakwell, when the score was 2-2.

That’s a good formation because both Danny and Fabrice will be playing in their strongest positions this afternoon.

The last two times Danny Guthrie has started in midfield at St. James’ Park the lads won 5-1 against Cardiff City and 4-1 against Coventry City, probably because Danny is an attacking midfielder and was spraying passes all over the park during those two games.

As expected Jose Enrique returns to the left-back position, after being out for around six weeks and a seven-game absence.

Peter Lovenkrands is preferred to Leon Best in attack, as expected, and will partner the in-form Andy Carroll up front.

Howay The Lads!!

    ——————-Harper——————–
    Simpson–Coloccini–Williamson–Enrique
    Pancrate–Nolan (c)–Guthrie–Jonas
    ——–Carroll–Lovenkrands————

Just as I predicted… kind of! Nice line-up though, I hope Pancrate can step up to the plate today. I was there when he scored his goal against watford, was a beauty! C’mon toon, attack them from the whistle, and most importantly get those 3 points!

Shame smith got a knock, although I thought he should have been rested anyway so as long as he’s fit 4 boro games then it dont matter.

Hope guthrie has another blinder in the middle too!

I am still mesmerised by this… Why have we let LuaLua out on loan? This would be an IDEAL opportunity for him and we are going to lose an undoubted talent in the summer if when he comes back in the next few weeks from Brighton he gets no playing time. Give him a chance CH! 🙂

BBC Newcastle’s stream cuts out because of the regional limitations on it. Can’t have them nasty Cumbrians listening in to our radio station!

Bit of a piss take but that’s how the BBC wants it, so whatever. Glad I’ve got my mp3 player, though!
