If Newcastle Are Promoted Hughton Deserves A Medal

It’s been some story this season for Newcastle United, and few would argue that if Newcastle do secure promotion back to the Premier League – then Chris Hughton deserves a medal.

Chris Hughton – deserves a medal

And if indeed Mike Ashley decides to give Chris a medal,  let’s make sure it’s an expensive one. 😀

Chris is currently on one of the lowest wages of any Newcastle manager for a very long time, at around £5K/week or around £260K a year.

Previous managers like Kevin Keegan and Sam Allardyce were on £3M/year, or around £60K/week – 12 times what Chris is said to be getting right now.

We are told that Chris and his worthy assistant Colin Calderwood will both get raises if the team do get promoted, and they will both have earned whatever they get in remuneration next season.

It would also be good to give them both a bonus if  promotion is finally secured this season.

Few Newcastle fans would object to Chris getting a more than a decent wage next season if we are in the PL, but his contract will be for no more than a couple of years, because he’s still not proven himself in the Premier League.

That’s Chris’ next challenge, and quite honestly, having seen the way he handles the team and players this season, we wouldn’t be betting against his success – even in the Premier League.

Howay The Lads!!

Let him have a go in the EPL. But he will probably be the worst paid manager in it.

A new 3 year contract worth 1.5m with an option of going back to his current wages and staying as coach if he fails.

I suggest the 3 year contract because we need a patient man for MA’s plan and the good thing is that the players love him and play for him once he has the senior players on his side then he will do well.

CH, DL and MA click may be because they are all cockneys but right now they are all doing a good job.

We have tried big names lets try this and see where it takes us.

CH needs a backroom staff and that will make next season. He needs coaches he understands and can work with. The players have a committee that will take care of itself.

My suggestions are Carver and Speed.

We will need to because their may be offers for him in the not-too-distant future at this rate.

Was thinking about how we many of our english boys could conceivably get a crack at international honours before 2012 if we keep things on the up? S Taylor, Carroll surely at some point. Routledge, Harper possibly. Williamson and Simpson extreme outside chance??

Also forget Guthrie – who I think is odds-on to get a call up at some point if we go up.

Give the man a contract, he`s done everything that has been asked of him and more.
Tell me who could have done a better job ?
Inherited a team in chaos, yeah i`ve heard the story about the senior players and their meetings, but it takes a smart manager to acomplish what he has.
IMO he deserves a decent contract as a reward and also to disprove the critics who claim it`s easy in the second tier, but doubt if he can hack it in the Premier.
The man deserves a shot and I for one believe he can continue to prove he is both an astute manager and could surprise many people.

Hughton has Nufc playing compact organised football, the man should be knighted.

Chuck – agreed. We were the laughing stock of the country last autumn, a want away owner, deflated players and a boycotting set of beaten supporters,, fast forward 9 months and we are unpicking stubborn hard-working defenses, players are hungry and confident in themselves again. New additions are also excellent – all round.

My only grievance is the tools who come on here saying – Nolan has to go, Smith has to GO, Ameobi isn’t prem class yawn, yawn etc. etc. They seem to miss the importance of the buzzing squad morale hughton has built up,, I can only assume they want a return to the fractions, cynical swiping and singling out players for blame – nay persecution!

hughton sees that and protects the players to some extent – he knooows Butt is past it but also knows how important the happy rotated squad is for pulling together to get results – Seems whatever happens to the club – good or bad toon supporters will revert to type, like they are picking a team on fifa or summat.
The best supporters in the country damn it – but that also comes with an anxiety that leads to things being messed up all over again.

I had been mouthing off a bit about CH having no plan B when things go wrong. He seems to have suddenly figured this out and now seems to be switching play around a bit, so well done CH for making me eat (even more of) my words. I feel if we do go up we should get behind the guy, because regardless of what has gone on in the past, we have a united team for the first time in years, and that alone deserves credit.

    Knighted maybe not, medal? Yeah.

He is doing a good job here in the championship, but the EPL is a whole different league. The teams are filled with world class players.

Overall I think that Houghton should get a Wooden Spoon not a Golden Medal because anyone get Newcastle promoted if they LICKED UP Ashley’s ARSE & I have been told that Ashley picks the team week in week out.

So I think that Houghton is a PILE of Crap
